A proud result last Thursday for our A team at Kidsgrove.

Neil Hankey made a gracious and encouraging comment on LMS:

"Well done! It was supposed to be a hammering :)
That was an epic performance Meir : outgraded by over 200 per board and you manage the upset!"

We are entering two teams in the Stoke League for 2026-27, in divisions 4 and 6. We aim to give our expanding membership opportunities to play more competitive chess. Have a word with Bob, our Chair, if you are thinking of joining the club and being part of a team.

Club badge update. We asked for comments on the draft design and one response was that we had to redesign the lamp. We might go for an historically correct miner's lamp or we might look for one of the planes that flew from the old Meir Aerodrome. Watch this space.

Not a good result for the Meir in the South Potteries Cup - our long-standing pre-season match against Fenton - 2.5 / 1.5.
