🌳 Ball Green and Milton park bids 🌳

Last week, following a FOI to the City Council I was able to confirm that we would be receiving Pride in Place infrastructure funding for our two parks.

Labour run Stoke-on-Trent City Council had not shared details with any non Labour councillor so I didn’t have any specifics until today 😑

πŸ› Ball Green park- will be receiving Β£9000
πŸ› Milton park - will be receiving Β£1000

Needless to say this is substantially less than we bid for. On top of the decision to deny our Β£20 million Pride in Place bid this does come as a frustration.

πŸ—£οΈ I have had a couple of residents get in touch to ask who decides which bids get funded, and what funding they get. πŸ‘‡ is the make up of the board.

βœ… I will not drop the fight for better facilities for our local area, and I will be submitting a question to full council to ensure that as part of the city wide review of the parks, all of our parks are supported.

I’ll also continue to work with the Ball Green Residents Association, Blooming Ball Green and all residents to make the case to protect our green space and improve our villages πŸ‘

I will post more details and updates on my page when I have them.

Cheers
Dave

Myself and Sharon attended David Williams MP meeting today where we asked numerous questions about Ball Green.
It was very informative and after having an in depth discussion, we can confirm:
The Β£1.5 million pride of place budget is for the WHOLE of Stoke-on-Trent.
The Β£75/80,000 has NOT been agreed and Ball Green will have nowhere near this amount for the park area, however we will get funding for the park area , we explained how the area is in need of renewal not just for smaller children, but also for teens and adults.
The Hub is a DEFINITE YES but with no time scale and can be either a container, portacabin or brick building dependant on how much is given to the council. This is NOT part of the pride of place funding. Hopefully, in time, we can start mother/child mornings, coffee mornings, pensioner afternoons. The police will hopefully have an area inside too. The hub will also have 360' cameras which can only be a bonus to residents.
Other good news is that the Football Pitches are NOT being built on and after speaking with Sam and Justin who run the football teams, they have been given email addresses and advice to repair / overhaul the pitches.
With regards to the housing on greenbelt, this is still in planning stage and any development will need ecological reports before any permission is granted. This is a bridge we can all cross together when it happens.
We asked about drainage on Bemersley Road and this will be chased up by Cllr Jane Ashworth.
This is by no means a political post, we are just passing on what everyone was told at the meeting.
I do feel a lot better about the whole situation now it has come "from the horses mouth", so to speak.
Any political comments will be removed. Thank you

πŸ‘‹ BALL GREEN & NORTON COFFEE MORNING πŸ‘‹

βœ… I’ll be hosting a community coffee morning in Ball Green & Norton on Saturday 13th June.

βœ… These coffee mornings are a great opportunity for residents to raise local issues, ask questions, or simply come along for a chat over a cup of tea or coffee.

βœ… Whether it’s concerns about local services, ideas for the area, or issues you need support with, I’d be really pleased to meet you.

βœ… RSVP if you live in Ball Green and Norton and would like to attend by emailing [email protected]

βœ… I’m looking forward to meeting residents from across Ball Green, Norton and Norton Green!
