The Highly Commended Recipient of our Volunteer of the Year Award 2026 πŸ†

This highly commended recipient was recognised as a UKSR volunteer who gives that little bit more than anyone asks of them, who brings warmth and stability to everything they do, and whose presence genuinely makes participants feel safe and supported.

And the highly commended recipient is... πŸ₯ Andrew Sanderson from Derby Drug & Alcohol Recovery Service! πŸ‘πŸΌ

Andrew is consistently, week after week, open, kind and honest, and he never complains. Having been in recovery himself for a long time himself, he also runs other groups, checks in with people individually, and fits it all around his part-time work. Andrew is described as a hard worker who facilitates extremely well.

Huge congratulations to Andrew, and many thanks for your hard work and dedication to delivering SMART meetings in your local service πŸŽ‰

Winner of our Volunteer of the Year Award 2026 πŸ†

This is our most open and community-driven award. It's for the volunteer who gives that little bit more than anyone asks of them, who brings warmth and stability to everything they do, and whose presence genuinely makes participants feel safe and supported.

And the winner is... πŸ₯ LesleyAnn Love, with B-Surf Recovery in Bolton! πŸ‘πŸΌ

LesleyAnn has helped people in recovery voluntarily for over 12 years, throwing herself 100% into every session. She always goes the extra mile, following up outside of meetings and visiting people who are unwell. LesleyAnn is welcoming to newcomers, helping them to feel at ease and having a huge impact on participants’ recovery and mindset.

Huge congratulations to LesleyAnn, we’re so glad you were able to join us one the night and accept your well-deserved award πŸŽ‰

The Highly Commended Recipient of our Significant Achievement Award 2026 πŸ†

This highly commended recipient was recognised as the SMART facilitator who's reached a significant milestone or done something that's genuinely left its mark on the people around them, and on SMART Recovery as a whole. Whether that's their 100th meeting, setting up a new group somewhere really needed, an extraordinary commitment to bringing other facilitators onboard, or something else that's had a real impact, this is their moment.

And the highly commended recipient is... πŸ₯ Joseph Eardley from Moving On Inverclyde! πŸ‘πŸΌ

Joseph came through Moving On Inverclyde's own recovery programme and has become one of their strongest SMART advocates by facilitating closed meetings twice a week, running the open Port Glasgow meeting, and delivering sessions in HMP Greenock for three years. He leads by example and helps others become facilitators too.

Huge congratulations to Joseph, and thank you for your ongoing commitment to UK SMART Recovery πŸŽ‰

Winner of our Significant Achievement Award 2026 πŸ†

This award was presented to the SMART facilitator who's reached a significant milestone or done something that's genuinely left its mark on the people around them, and on SMART Recovery as a whole. Whether that's their 100th meeting, setting up a new group somewhere really needed, an extraordinary commitment to bringing other facilitators onboard, or something else that's had a real impact, this is their moment.

And the winner is... πŸ₯ Matthew Fright from St Vincent de Paul's Centre in Southend! πŸ‘πŸΌ

Matthew's journey to becoming a trusted SMART facilitator speaks for itself. He creates safe, honest meetings where people who struggle to engage with traditional services feel able to connect. He never judges, speaks openly about his own experience, and shows people that lasting recovery is possible even when they feel hopeless.

Huge congratulations to Matthew, who sadly couldn't join us for our awards ceremony, but was celebrated in his absence πŸŽ‰
