Reach was a group advocacy project supporting adults with a learning disability to speak up and have a voice about the issues that were important to them. Reach members spoke up about the services and support they used, helping to shape them with decision makers from health and social care. Here, some members talked about how important it is to have a voice, be listened to and be heard.
Reach was founded in 2000 and ran until the early 2020s when changes in funding and the long-lasting impact of Covid-19 meant the Reach project became a wider community advocacy project. The ideas and expertise of Reach members are still being used in our community advocacy and co-production projects today.
