Is your child learning a musical instrument? Are they in the early stages of that musical journey?

If YES, they are warmly invited to join our new MOORLANDS MUSIC CENTRE BLAST OFF! group - a band/orchestra for young beginners, aimed at ages 7+ (school Year 3 and above). As soon as they can play 3 or 4 notes on their instrument, they are welcome to come along!

It's completely FREE OF CHARGE and will be rehearsing at Endon High School on TUESDAY afternoons from 4.30-5.30pm, weekly, starting Tuesday 22nd September.

Your young musicians will make music, make friends, grow in confidence and have lots of fun along the way!

MMC is part of Entrust Music Service Staffordshire. The group is led by experienced, DBS-checked, specialist music teachers who currently work in local schools. Twice a year, our Endon group will join with other Moorlands Music Centre groups (based elsewhere in the Moorlands) in two family concerts.

If your child learns an instrument with their class in school, so doesn't have an instrument they can bring along to Blast Off!, they can also borrow an instrument free of charge in order to attend.

This week, we said goodbye to our dearest colleague Linda Lea.

Your kindness, commitment and contribution to our community will never be forgotten.

The floral tributes were placed at the Brown Edge Flypole on Bank End, giving everyone across our community the opportunity to pay their respects to Linda.

Rest in peace, Linda. 🕊️🏵

The Chairman, Councillors and staff of Brown Edge Parish Council are saddened to hear of the death of former Councillor Linda Lea.

Linda had a wonderful vision of what Brown Edge needed as a Community and worked hard to acheive this.

Linda helped to renovate Brown Edge Village Hall and founded Brown Edge Luncheon Club with her collegues, providing a vital service to vulnerable residents and creating a community space that has become the centre of Village activity.

Linda was elected as a District Councillor on Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and a Parish Councillor on Brown Edge Parish Council and held her seat for many years. She was an expert on Planning matters. She was Chair for a time and one of the lead fundraisers for several Parish Council projects including the Allotments, the Playing Field equipment, the lighting along the path on the public right of way that goes through the playing field and many other projects that have enhanced the village.

She coordinated volunteers with the Brown Edge Action Group who as a team planted flowers and cleaned signs and repeated this work annually. She represented the council in the media and appeared on Radio Stoke to raise awareness of Brown Edge projects including installing three defibrillators. Linda was proud to represent the council at Remembrance events.

Brown Edge Parish Council send their condolences to Linda's daughter Debbie and all that knew her as a friend. Linda's legacy will live on in all the people she influenced and all the assets that she helped to improve in Brown Edge.
