Today, I lovingly remember the birthday of my special brother, Late Rev. Fr. Alexander Nougi Sob, who was born on 4 August 1973 in Bangem, South West Region of Cameroon.
He was not only a respected leader in the Catholic education community in Cameroon but also a man whose words inspired hope, strengthened faith, and uplifted everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
One of the statements he often shared that has remained with me was:
“As the son of a poor Catholic teacher, I understand the plight and suffering of teachers.”
Those words reflected the compassion that defined his life. He understood the struggles of others because he never forgot where he came from. He treated everyone with dignity, kindness, humility, and respect.
He admired Barack Obama not simply because they shared the same birthday or because of his achievements, but because he appreciated his message of hope, compassion, and respectful leadership. Those were the same values my brother sought to live out every day.
Rev. Fr. Alexander Nougi Sob was deeply compassionate, caring, humble, and selfless. He consistently placed the needs of others before his own. His love for the vulnerable, especially the many orphans whose lives he touched and supported, remains a lasting testimony to the life he lived. His absence continues to be deeply felt by the Catholic Christian community, his family, his friends, and all who were blessed by his generosity, wisdom, and guidance.
As his next of kin, I often reflect on the remarkable legacy he left behind. While I strive to honor his memory, I know I can never truly fill his shoes. His wisdom, humility, unwavering faith, and extraordinary compassion were gifts that made him a truly exceptional servant of God.
Happy Heavenly Birthday, Rev. Fr. Alexander Nougi Sob.
Your life was a blessing, your memory is a treasure, and your legacy continues to inspire us to love more deeply, serve more faithfully, and care more selflessly.
You are deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
