To close 'Better Transport Week', we are excited to announce the launch of a brand-new partnership with Avanti West Coast🚆
Our Sight Loss Councils in Greater Manchester, Lancashire, and Staffordshire will be leading this year-long project to help make six stations across the network more accessible for blind and partially sighted people.
Together, we’ll be working with Avanti to deliver accessibility assessments, create audio guides, provide staff training, and host ‘Try a Train’ events - helping more people travel with confidence and independence.
Rachel Wilkinson, Head of Engagement at Thomas Pocklington Trust, said:
“We’re delighted to be working with Avanti West Coast to build on our work improving rail accessibility across the UK. This latest investment will see our Sight Loss Councils in the North West and West Midlands working with Avanti to improve the accessibility of six stations. We hope this is the start of a strong and lasting partnership.”
This is a fantastic step towards more inclusive transport for people with sight loss.
👉 Full details of the project and the stations involved will be announced shortly. Stay tuned for more details in coming weeks.
