Behind every donation is a story, a reason to give back and an incredible act of kindness. ✨

From generous donations to thoughtful handmade creations, our supporters continue to make a real difference for patients, families and staff across UHNM.

This week, we're shining a spotlight on:

💙 The Friends of Bagnacavallo, who generously donated £910 to Ward 223 after several members received heart surgery at UHNM. The group chose to donate their remaining funds as a thank you to Mr Balacumaraswami and his team for the care they received.

💗 The U3A Card Making Group, who have generously donated handmade hearts in support of UHNM Charity and our Palliative Care Team, giving their time and creativity to show their support.

Every contribution, whether it's a financial donation or a thoughtful handmade gift, is a wonderful reminder of the kindness within our community.

Ellishia Lauder is taking on an inspiring 2,000-mile challenge in honour of her mum, raising awareness of colorectal cancer and supporting those living with a stoma.

To celebrate the completion of her challenge, Ellishia is hosting The Hope Gala at Aston Marina on Friday 20th August 2027! ✨

Expect an evening of dinner, live entertainment, fundraising and dancing, all in support of UHNM Charity, Jacob's Well Appeal and Chameleon Buddies.

🎟️ Tickets are £60 per person.

It’s Fundraiser Friday! ✨

This week, we’re celebrating more of our wonderful supporters who have been finding creative and meaningful ways to make a difference for UHNM Charity.

🎵 Simon Deakin, a relative of a UHNM staff member, has turned a heartfelt poem into a song, Wings Unfurled, to raise awareness and show support for those affected by cancer.

🏃‍♀️ Katie Hackforth and her family are taking on an incredible 80-mile challenge throughout October to celebrate their dad’s 80th birthday, raising funds to support Cancer Care, Children’s Services and Ward 117.

🌸 Brothers Isaac and Oscar Rotherham have been busy creating beautiful hanging baskets to raise money for UHNM Charity, inspired by Oscar’s wish to help his teacher, who is poorly.

🧶 A little creativity, a lot of care and a very special story behind it all. 💙

These beautiful Beatrix Potter postbox toppers have been lovingly handmade by local crocheter Elizabeth Shenton!

What began as a hobby during lockdown in 2021 soon became a way for Elizabeth to spread a little joy throughout the community.

But behind her creations is a particularly meaningful connection to UHNM.

In 2023, while her father was seriously unwell in hospital, Elizabeth spotted the postbox outside UHNM, inspiring her to bring some colour and creativity to the space.

Featuring much-loved characters including Mrs Tittlemouse, Squirrel Nutkin, Tommy Brock and Benjamin Bunny, each topper is a wonderful example of Elizabeth's talent and dedication.

A huge thank you to Elizabeth for sharing her wonderful creations and helping to bring smiles to our community. 💛

The Book Fairy has been spreading the joy of reading, sharing stories and bringing smiles to our young patients. 💚

From much-loved favourites to exciting new adventures, books have the power to spark imaginations and offer a welcome distraction during a hospital stay.

We're taking a look back at an incredible Potters 'Arf, filled with determination, encouragement and plenty of proud moments.

It was fantastic to see so many runners and walkers take on the challenge in support of UHNM Charity, with friends, families and supporters cheering them on every step of the way.

💙 Robert Smith's family, who have raised an amazing £8,000 in his memory.

👏 The Red Lion Pub, who raised a fantastic £800 in support of Ben Hubbard's fundraising.

🪂 Ian Brookes, who took on a skydive at 70 years old in memory of his friend Barry, raising an incredible £1,141.10!

Every contribution has a story behind it, and together, these acts of generosity help make a lasting difference across our hospitals.

They're taking on 24 fitness classes in 24 hours, and they've already raised over £4,200! 💚👏

The team at 4FITT HQ are putting themselves through their paces in memory of Liam Zwetschnikow, raising funds for the Critical Care Unit at Royal Stoke University Hospital.

It's brilliant to see so many people coming together to support such a meaningful cause.

They've already smashed their original £1,000 target, but the challenge isn't over yet!
