Yesterday our Beavers braved the rain to help St Luke's Church with the planting of flowers within their grounds. There were lots of muddy hands but we think you'll agree that they did a wonderful job!

Today 7th Wellington said goodbye to one of its own, Michael Summerfield, or Uncle Michael as he was known to many. Michael was the epitome of gentle kindness with a heart of gold. Always found manning the bbq, Michael could be relied upon to support anyone within our scouting family, youngsters and leaders alike. He will be greatly missed.

“He is gone” by David Harkins

You can shed tears that he is gone,
or you can smile because he has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all he's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember only that he is gone,
or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what he'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Last night, our Explorers completed an evening learning practical skills. They learned how to wire a plug, change a wheel and inflate tyres. Next week we continue with changing nappies, ironing their uniform and wallpapering! (Special thanks to Baloo for being brave enough to let them loose on her car!)

Comment below with the practical skills you wish you'd learned as a teenager 👇

As we come to the end of National Volunteer Week, we'd like to take the opportunity to thank all of our wonderful volunteers who enable over 60 children to access Scouting at 7th Wellington. We have over 30 volunteers, a number of whom volunteer for multiple roles due to many vacant unpaid roles. Our volunteers range from the leaders and occasional helpers who look after the children and the team who carry out maintenance and look after the day to day running of the building. ⚜️🟢⚪️
