After five incredible years, the time has come for the Connected Communities team to say goodbye. Our team is not part of the University’s new structure. Nic and Dana will be moving on to new opportunities, while Ryan will continue to work within the University as part of the Know Your Place project.

Connected Communities began in 2019, rising from the legacy of the Creative Communities Unit, with a vision of creating a real, lasting impact in Staffordshire. Together, we’ve worked alongside communities to amplify voices, foster collective power, and make a difference in the place we call home.

From initiatives like Staffs CAN to impactful community research projects such as Get Talking, Keep Talking, Discover Digital, and Raising Voices, every interaction has been a testament to what can be achieved when people work together. We’ve been privileged to partner with individuals and groups across Staffordshire, celebrating community strength, innovation and creativity at every step.

At the final Staffs CAN we shared the 2023-24 Connected Communities Impact Report. We're happy to be able to share the final version with you: https://issuu.com/staffordshire_university/docs/2023-24_connected_communities_impact

To everyone who has supported us, collaborated with us, or shared their stories: thank you! Your passion and commitment have been the heart of Connected Communities, and we’re endlessly grateful to have been part of this journey with you.

It’s been an honour to work in this team and to make a difference in our place.

With our gratitude and best wishes,

Nic, Dana, and Ryan

🌟Earlier this year, we joined other Raising Voices partners to deliver an inspiring day at University of Staffordshire's Action on Poverty Conference.

The day focused on collaboration, strength, and hope. From powerful stories in the Human Library to discussions about creating a Poverty Truth Commission, the conference showcased the importance of listening, learning, and working together.

Over the past year, the Raising Voices Steering Group has been exploring the creation of a Poverty Truth Commission in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire. The conference was a huge step forward in making this vision a reality.

🌟 Staffs CAN🌟

On 30th September, we brought together community members, university staff, and partners to reflect on 12 months of community engagement activities that have happened at The University. We discussed the work and spoke about how to best present this in the next Connected Communities Evaluation Report.

Staffs CAN member, Ayad Al-Ani also joined us to update Staffs CAN on The Collaborative Value Initiative.

Thank you to everyone who contributed!
