We help people living with cancer and non-cancer illnesses including advanced heart failure, motor neurone disease and incurable lung diseases. We endeavour to go that extra mi

le to provide a warm, friendly and peaceful environment both at the hospice and in a families own homes. We are committed to expanding and improving our services, always striving to deliver the very best quality of care to meet the ever-changing needs of the local community. We are proud of to offer a broad spectrum of specialist palliative and end of life care for all ages. With the help of our supporters we aim to help patients to achieve the very best quality of life.

Good luck to everyone taking part this evening - we can't wait to see you all ready to turn Stoke-on-Trent pink to support Dougie Mac!

“I’m not a regular therapist; I’m a cool therapist.” 🎭

This Children’s Hospice Week, we’re celebrating the incredible people who make moments that matter here at Dougie Mac. 💛

Dramatherapist, Andrew Robinson, uses creativity, play and storytelling to help children, young people and families express emotions in a way that feels natural to them. Whether it’s through music, puppetry or shared stories, his work gives them the space to express emotions, build confidence and feel heard during incredibly difficult times.

Andrew said: “The therapy is very spontaneous and is completely led by the individual who may feel like they’re working with one thing, but actually things can be in the subconscious, and they can then become paramount to the therapeutic process.

“I love my job and Dougie Mac is a wonderful place to work. It’s great to be able to support people during a time that can be extremely dark and emotionally draining, so to have someone trust you with their emotions and truth is a very, very privileged role.”

Mick Skelton took part in our Big Swim in 2025 in memory of his wife, Jan. 💛

“Jan was in Dougie Mac for two weeks before she passed away and received marvellous palliative care, I cannot fault anything that Dougie Mac provided. Myself and Jan's brother were there at the end and we were treated with so much respect. It felt like a big arm was wrapped round us, it was such a warm feeling.”

“I took on Dougie Mac’s Big Swim as I wanted to mark my wife’s one year memorial and do something that would push me to the limits and this certainly did.”

Thanks to his amazing effort, Mick raised a fantastic £1,900 for the hospice.

It’s Children’s Hospice Week! 💛

We are celebrating the incredible work of children’s hospices and highlighting the support we offer to local children facing a life-limiting illness and their families.

At Dougie Mac Children's Services our amazing team work together to provide a range of activity sessions, fun days, sibling support and play experiences to make valuable memories for families to treasure. Our monthly ‘Play as Therapy’ group provides bespoke, adaptable, inclusive play sessions for our children under five and their younger siblings.

Here’s just a snippet of one of our sessions where children enjoyed:

🩵Creating superhero Father’s Day crafts

Mum Madeline said: “Coming to Children’s Services is like another home to us – it’s a safe house with no judgment. It is a special place.”
