Want to help nature thrive right on your doorstep?

Pop down to Westport Lake on Wednesday 18 February, 10am–2pm to pick up a free tree to plant in your garden, thanks to the Staffordshire Sustainability Board.

Tree species available include:
🌳 Hawthorn
🌳 Rowan
🌳 Silver birch
🌳 Crab apple
🌳 Whitebeam
All trees are native species, perfect for supporting local wildlife and boosting biodiversity across Staffordshire.

You’ll also receive a handy leaflet with tips on how to care for your tree - and you’ll be encouraged to add your planting location to an interactive map.

Plus, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust will be there with free family-friendly activities including:
🪵 Tree identification
🎨 Natural arts and crafts
🐾 Scavenger hunt
🌿 Bark rubbing
Come along, grab a tree and get involved in making our area greener! 💚

We’ve lost 38 million birds from UK skies in the last 60 years. With birds facing so many challenges, it’s more important than ever to get involved in the Birdwatch.

Join us at 11am Saturday 31 January at Longton library for stories and crafts to help all family members engage with our feathered friends.
We'll be making bird wreaths and feeders and if you pop into Longton now, we have a handy bird finder guide to help you to get involved throughout the Big Garden Birdwatch long weekend 23-25 January 2026.

👉FREE activity and no need to book in advance
👉Just turn up, join in and have fun!
👉Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Lots of great 2nd hand items looking for new homes this Saturday. Come on down and see what you can find. It's indoors too so no rain.

We are fully booked up and over flowing with great stalls selling some fantastic things.

The Staffordshire Sustainability Board is hosting free tree giveaway events this autumn and winter to encourage residents to plant trees at home to protect the environment and enhance nature 🌳

The trees will be around 30-60cm long, so easy to fit in your car and take home!

The trees will be a mix of oak, hawthorn, rowan, silver birch, crab apple, hazel and whitebeam and will be available at the following locations from 10am - 2pm:

• South Staffordshire – 27 October, Baggeridge Country Park, DY3 4HB
• Lichfield – 28 October, Chasewater Country Park, WS8 7NL
• Tamworth – 29 October, Tamworth Castle Grounds, B79 7NA
• Cannock – 30 October, Marquis Drive, WS12 4PW
• Stafford – 31 October, Albert’s Café, ST16 2QP
• Newcastle-under-Lyme – 21 November, Apedale Country Park, ST5 6AX
• East Staffordshire – 16 February, The Greenhouse at Stapenhill Cemetery, DE15 9AE
