🎄🎅Oh yes we did....🎅🎄!

We're getting our Christmas crafts done early this year but also learning a new craft here at Blythe Centre Creative Crafts 4 All group!

So we learnt the art of the traditional Japanese craft 'Kimekomi'.

This is where fabric scraps are carefully tucked into carved grooves of a wooden or foam base.

The Kimekomi technique originated in Kyoto at the Kamigamo Shrine around 1736–1741 and was created by a man named Tadashige Takahashi. He used leftover pieces of sacred wood from making ceremonial tools and dressed carved doll bodies using leftover kimono fabric scraps.

Today, the Kimekomi technique is used for making decorative baubles, eggs, and wall hangings using styrofoam or high-density foam instead of wood.

We used polystyrene balls, some beautiful Christmas fabrics, shiny cords and our creative juices to create these gorgeous Kimekomi Baubles...how lovely are they going to look on everyone's trees this year ❤️.

Another country has been visited for our Around the World in Crafty Days display and this one has had us all really thinking of what to create!

So Lithuania was the country of choice this time and I think we have all learnt a little bit more about this part of the world.

Lithuanian traditional crafts include straw "sodai" gardens, amber jewellery, intricate textile weaving and paper cutting that reflect deep connections to nature and their Baltic heritage. Their crafts are connected to family and their communities and many people join together to create some wonderful pieces to decorate their homes and villages during festivals and celebrations.

We've had some lovely pieces of art created by a few members of our group taking inspiration from the traditions of the Lithuanian people.

From paper cutting designs to the Lithuanian flag...we would like to share what weve learnt whilst on our tour of what is to us all, an unknown country...please take a look at our display when you are next in the library and maybe it will inspired you to learn something new too ❤️.

👀 Just look at these beauties 👀!

After a few weeks hard work (with much fun and giggles inbetween), the ladies at the Blythe Centre craft group have produced these absolutely gorgeous Fabric Birdhouses!

We're just blown away with the standards of each and every one of them and you all of little faith in the beginning of the project...you are all just amazing 🥰.

What posh birds we shall have in Blythe Bridge 🐦❤️...what do you all think?

Another week of a hive of activity here at Blythe Centre Creative Craft Group...we've been nimble with our fingers and our fabric birdhouses are coming together beautifully.

Such a variety of fabric designs and so unique to each and every one.

We've also welcomed a new lady to our group again this week, so a hello and welcome to Jackie, we hope you enjoyed your couple of hours of doing something just for you ❤️.

There is still time to join us if you would like to make your own fabric birdhouse too so absolutely do come to the library, here in Blythe Bridge. We meet every Tuesday, 10am till 12pm and its only £2! No equipment needed, just your lovely selves...everyone is welcome.

So something a little different has been happening at Blythe Centre Crafts 4 All group this week and it's got all the ladies tweeting with fun and excitement! 🐦

For this months group project we are making our own very cute Fabric Bird Houses 🏘 and it seems that everyone has really embraced this little project.

We got well and truly stuck in with our templates and cutting out the inner cardboard in readiness for the best bit of choosing the fabric and trimmings to make our Bird Houses unique.

This is an ongoing project throughout the month of September so if you fancy joining us to make your own, then please come on down and have some Birdy Fun with us!

We also welcomed two new lovely ladies to our group this week, so hello and welcome to the lovely Jane and Debbie...we hope you will be with us again next time.

Every Tuesday, 10am till 12pm....and its only £2 (always including a drink, cakes and biscuits 😋)!

If you only do what you already know that you won't realise what else you can do!

What a perfect saying for the Creative Crafts 4 All group here at Blythe Centre. There is always something new to be learnt and the ladies seem to do that every Tuesday!

We've been wrapping up our Crochet projects this week with a last mini project of a Butterfly. It involved many different stitches and also different techniques to what has been taught before hence the new skill learnt 😊.

Isn't it great when you feel like you've achieved? 🥰

As always we're sure that crochet will be something that we shall keep returning too but for now we'll end the months project on a high!

Something new is coming next week so keep looking for more very soon!

All fingers and thumbs getting our heads around Amigurami Crochet last week at Blythe Centre Creative Craft group!

The lovely Hope joined us to share her own skills of Crochet with the ladies and taught us how to Crochet this oh so very cute Octopus 🐙.

For those ladies that said they couldn't Crochet they did a fine job of proving otherwise! ❤️

More of the same at tomorrow's craft session so if you fancy popping down and learning Amigurami or any type of Crochet maybe you even have your own Crochet project on the go and fancy doing it with other like-minded people then do please join us. We have lots of tea and coffee, biscuits and cakes and most importantly lots of giggles and welcoming arms 😄.

Another month and another country has been visited in our 'Around the World in Crafty Days' project here at Blythe Centre Creative Crafts 4 All group.

We flew many miles to 'Kenya' during the month of July and the beauty and the colorfully adorned women of the country seemed to be the most inspirational with our creations...

Mavis took those vibrant colours and created the highly patterned silhouette complete with the beads and African pattern inspired background too ❤️...perfectly African colourfulness!

Beryl shared her Watercolour painting skills with the two beautiful paintings, one of an African lady wearing all her beaded jewellery and the other of a Mother and her children walking together balancing their things on their heads, the babies swaddled to the mothers chest ❤️.

Another beautiful simplistic but beautiful silhouette of an African lady was drawn and painted by Cynthia. Her colourful turban and long gold earrings glistening in the light just as they would in the African sunlight.❤️

Pat has created the most fabulous Mud Hut from recycled packaging materials and also given us a little interesting information about them too...we could perhaps use the same skills as the Africans during this current weather we are having! ❤️ It's great Pat!

A fabulous 3D piece of art has been created by Trina. The beautiful silhouette of an African lady wearing her most wonderful handmade beaded jewellery but also her beautiful hair complete with jingle jangle beads swaying in the breeze. We've even got a glimpse of the Kenyan flag behind her too. ❤️

Lastly, Laura was inspired by the animals of the country and made a Kenyan Giraffe 🦒 from African print fabric and brightly coloured beads adorning its neck! ❤️

These are all on display now within the library so do take a look and maybe they will inspire you too.

Due to holidays there is no Craft Group today at Blythe Centre but we thought you might like to see what we've been up to these past few weeks.

As we've had a few requests to learn the craft of Crochet we thought we would have another go and it seems we've got a few talented crocheter's already! Mmm and they said they didn't know how to do it 😊!

If you would like to learn the basics of crochet come and join us next week, no equipment needed just your lovely selves. It's only £2...where else can you buy a couple of hours to yourself, a cup of tea or coffee, biscuit or cakes and lots of chats and giggles?

Wow another week has almost gone but the ladies of the Blythe Centre Crafts 4 All group have been busy with learning a new craft of 'Decoupage'.

We have kindly has some wonderful donations from a family who's Mum spent many hours creating some beautiful pieces using the Decoupage technique so we thought it would be a perfect short craft project for us to have a try at too.

So Decoupage became popular in France where they would traditionally use pictures of n**e women, cherubs and roses and it became am outlet for the Victorian and Edwardian ladies to use their embossed scraps to decorate vases, mirrors, screens, furniture or greetings cards.

Nowadays it's still a popular craft using scraps of wrapping paper, magazines, old books, greeting cards, leaflets, doilies, lace, ribbon etc.

Why throw away a boring old coffee jar when you can Decoupage it and make it into a beautiful vase!

There has been some beautiful pieces created and something just that little bit different. Well done to all ❤️.
