We had a fabulous time at the Stoke Poges Village Fete yesterday. The sun shone and we hosted our popular Rose Show, sold plants and chatted to visitors about membership, our Flower Show and, of course, what you are growing in your gardens! Well done to Jon for winning the rose medal for his lovely red rose.

🌹🌹We are very excited to be hosting a Rose Competition at the Stoke Poges Village Fete on Saturday June 13th in the grounds of Stoke Poges School. Just bring your best bloom along to our stall and we will do the rest! Entry is free for members but non members can enter too! There's a Rose Medal to be won too. We will have a large stand there too and you will be able to renew membership or join and get information about the Annual Show 2026 and our programme of events . We will also have plants for sale! Looking forward to seeing you there!🌹

Everyone is welcome to our next talk on Companion Planting at The Stoke Poges School. Companion Planting (planting the right plants together) is great way to keep down pests and keep your plants healthy without resorting into chemicals! There is a small charge for non members but why not join our society and access all our talks and social evenings plus Flower Show entrance for free! You can join on the night. We will be selling plants too! Hope to see you there!

Frost Warning 😱🥶
Temperatures are set to dip for the next few nights with possible frost in most UK areas.
We are bringing in tender plants like chillies, peppers, melons and tomatoes from the greenhouse overnight for the next few days at least till things settle. It's a big faff playing plant hokey cokey but it's not worth the risk of losing them now.
We will also be earthing up potatoes shoots above the surface and pe***ng my potato bags closed. Horticultural fleece, bubble wrap or a duvet cover could be temporarily put over anything tender showing new growth like dahlias and bedding plants.
Tender plants shouldn't be out permanently till night time temperatures are consistently around 10C.
Frost and cold damage doesn't show immediately either. It can take around 3 days to appear.
Its better to be cautious at this point with your plant babies. You have invested a lot of time and love getting them to this stage.

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Plant Sale today such an incredible success! The growers, the shoppers, supporters, friends, family and the wonderful committee and volunteers. The money raised goes towards staging our annual Flower Show. It's on 25th July so save the date!!

Some of the flowering plants on sale today! We have hundreds of veggies, herbs, shrubs, fruit etc. There's even a couple of grape vines and some large shrubs/ trees!!
