It soon comes around doesn't it! It seems just like yesterday and then one month later we are doing it all again. Jolly good job too.

So on Saturday May 16th starting at 09:30 and based in our usual location of the Old School at Stoke Climsland we open up the doors for our 39th Stoke Climsland Repair Café, and that's one short of 40 (which it will be next month on June 20th)!

Over all those events we have had a huge range of items. These averaged about 26 items an event so 38 events x 26 items = 988 x 68% (our fix rate) = 672 reusable items (items that would probably ended in the tip if we hadn't fixed them). This is an amount we are proud of.

If you want to improve that figure then take a good look around and see if you have an item that wants fixing, we can't promise you 100% that we will fix it but I do know we will have a really good go at it. However, please remember that you can only bring it if you can carry it in (so no washing machines, cars of aeroplanes)!

Our events are run by volunteers (repair, café and general helpers) and we have knocked up somewhere in the region of 2000hrs so far and it is down to these people that we have done as well as we have. If you want to become part of the team then come in and see us and we will explain all there is to know. It is not an onerous task at all.

Even if you have nothing to repair and just want to be nosy then come on in and check us out, stop for a cuppa and some of the best cake ever (we just ask for a contribution towards ours costs). You'll meet some great people, volunteers and customers alike.

See you on Saturday........and remember .... don't bin it ...... 'Fix It'

FILM CLUB @ The Old School - "Hamnet"

Doors open at 7pm for refreshments. Film starts at 7.30pm.
No admission charge. New members are always welcome. Donations for refreshments welcome to help with the upkeep of The Old School.

Starring: Jessica Buckley, Paul Mescal, Emily Watson, Joe Alwyn, David Wilmot and Jacobi Jupe.

This standout film, not only of the year but possibly the decade, was nominated for 199 awards and winner of 58 including an Oscar for Jessica Buckley. Based on the
2020 novel by Maggie O’Farrell and directed by Chloe Zhao, the film dramatizes the family life of William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes Hathaway as they cope with the death of their 11 year old son.

“This movie wants to devastate you without depressing you and it absolutely achieves that.”
“BRING TISSUES.”

“Hamnet is a technical, artistic, intellectual and emotional feast.”
“Deeply sad, devastating and utterly beautiful in what it conveys about the meaning of love.”

“ This major production, backed by Stephen Spielberg, shouldn’t disappoint anyone.”

Thursday 14th May @ 7.30pm

CARN TO COVE: An evening of comedy from the KERNOW KING!
A double bill with Kernow King and Myghtern Kernow, both otherwise known as Edward Rowe.

A first half of classic Kernow King gags that will guarantee you irreverent laughs at the sometimes ridiculous nature of being Cornish and/or living in Cornwall, no matter where you are from in the world.

The second half will be in the ancient Celtic language of what has somehow become our second language, Kernewek. Do not fear! Whether you know some or no Kernewek, you will leave with a grin on your face and knowing what the Cornish word for prawn is.

Recommended age 18+

Supported by Carn to Cove

Tickets: Supporter £15, Standard £12

By choosing a "Supporter" ticket, your donation will enable Carn to Cove to continue to bring more top class shows to small rural venues in Cornwall.

Doors open at 7pm for 7.30pm start
