This weekend saw both of our Under 13s team travel to the Blackpool Football Tournament's.
The Ambers were in Group A and enjoyed a fantastic first day, beating Newton Aycliffe 3-0, Newbiggin Hall 12-0 and Forza 2-0 to top the group at the end of Day 1.
The Blacks were in Group B and had one win, one draw and one defeat on Day 1, against Oldham, Newcastle Blue Star and CN Sports.
Day 2 brought two more group games for each team; the Ambers won 4-0 and 1-0 while the Blacks lost 4-0 and drew 2-2.
The Ambers went into the cup competition and faced Group B runners-up Oldham, and a late Georgia Boult strike sent them through to the final.
In the plate, the Blacks had an extra knock-out round and in the quarter final, a Noelle Holmes penalty was enough to separate the two teams in a feisty affair!
The Blacks then met Marske United in the semi-final. Having already played out a 2-2 draw, this was sure to be a tight game. Another draw and the Blacks earned their place in the plate final after a penalty shoot out victory.
Both teams lined up to play their finals at the same time; the Ambers faced Forza once again, while the Blacks met Newcastle Blue Star for the second time this weekend.
The Ambers were dominant in their final but were unable to break down a tight Forza defence, and a 0-0 draw meant that the girls had gone the entire tournament without conceding a goal, but it was now to be decided on penalties on pitch 1.
The same result occurred on pitch 2, with the Blacks in their second penalty shoot out in a row.
In the cup final, the Ambers lost on penalties while in the plate final, the Blacks were victors on penalties once again!
A fantastic weekend for both teams, and only one penalty shoot out away from Norton Under 13s winning both competitions. The girls and families all had a fantastic weekend and did the club proud on and off the pitch. Here’s to next year where we hope to win more trophies and see more sunshine! ☀️🗼
