Thousands of children, young people and adults a year are missing out on brain injury compensation.
An adult brain injury story from a Solicitor.
Strength, support and recovery: Meg's story
Meg's family felt something had gone wrong with her care, so they contacted our legal team to help find the answers and secure the financial support and rehabilitation she deserved.
Meg didn't remember waking up in hospital and when she finally did, she couldn't understand why she was even there. Meg's brain injury affected her speech, made her struggle with chronic fatigue and left her having to use a wheelchair full-time. After instructing us to help, Meg’s lawyer, Leena Savjani, began investigating her case.
As a result of the investigation and legal support, Meg was able to access the specialist rehabilitation she needed to begin rebuilding her life.
Returning to work was particularly important to Meg, but for a time her injury made this impossible. Gradually returning to work on a part time basis proved to be a significant milestone, helping her regain confidence and a sense of purpose.
“A big turning point for me was receiving an interim payment to fund rehabilitation. It made a huge difference.”
Our client Meg suffered a brain injury after delays in her care during a cardiac arrest she had at just 26 years old.
Meg hopes her story encourages others to seek answers if they feel something went wrong with their care.
“If you think something hasn't been right in your care, don't be afraid to explore what happened. You might be right, you might not, but if you don't try, you'll never know. I'm so grateful my mum did, because without that, I wouldn't be where I am today.”
