This month Susan Richardson told us about her conservation volunteer work in the Lake District. She has helped to remove conifer trees which are not native and plant indigenous trees; clear ground so a path can be laid and many other projects over the last few years.
She is also a cow checker, counting the wild Belted Galaways!

These are some of the things that we made at the fused glass workshop a few of us attended and which was hosted by Karen from Glass by Donemark at Great Lumley. It was a wondefrful mindful way to spend an afternoon and we would highly recommend it.

This month our speaker was unable to come to our meeting so, at the last minute, Christine our President, gave a very interesting presentation on Wedding Cakes, Dresses and traditions.
Our competition for a single real flower in a container was very impressive.

At our latest craft group we used a jar, some straws and a few miniature artificial flowers to make a lovely holder for a string of lights to create a table decoration or just a little bit of mood lighting for when the evenings start to close in again.

We can always rely on Anne to put on a magnificent display whenever we need one. Thanks to all who came to chat to us on Saturday at Armed Forces Day. I hope you now agree that we are far much more than jam and Jerusalem!

🇺🇦This month Roman Pronyszyn talked to us about Ukraine, its history, its people and how they were coping during the war with Russia. Roman is of Ukrainian heritage but has lived in the UK for many years. He is helping support his fellow countrymen back home.
He was joined by Krystyna, her husband and friend who are refugees living in Fairfield.
They brought honey from their bees, honey chocolate and beeswax candles. .s.k.bees
We were also treated to Ukrainian honey cake (Medovyk) which was absolutely delicious.
