Stockton Scouts Event Support Team - provide event support to Scout Groups, community groups and other organisations.

We used to be known as the Stockton Thornaby and District Scout Communications Team. The aims of the team is to provide expert event management & specialist communications to members of the scout association, event organisers and groups in general, by the way of specialist event communication services, thus ensuring safety and efficiency in any event with which we are involved. BIG NEWS:
From 1975 to 2026, we’ve been proud to serve our community. What started 50 years ago as a specialist radio team has evolved into something so much bigger.

As we start the 2026 event season, the Stockton Thornaby District Scout Communications Team is officially becoming the Stockton Scouts Event Support Team!

Why the change? Simply put: we do way more than just radios now! Whether it’s District and County Scout camps, community festivals, or major national sporting events, our volunteers are the "boots on the ground" making things happen.

Our people haven’t changed - it’s just our name!

On Saturday a total of 25 people from the team along with other members of Cleveland County Scouts helped provide car parking at three different locations for the 2026 National Cross Country Championships in Sedgefield. Throughout the day more than 3,500 runners took part in the event, each requiring parking safely and efficiently. The team played an important role in keeping everything running smoothly.

Last night we provided the PA for the annual Richmond Christmas Light switch on in the Friary Gardens.

This morning we provided a PA system for the Children’s Remembrance Service at Norton Sports Charity.

It was great to see so many young people from 1st Norton and 6th Norton Scouts at the service.

We had a blast providing the sound for Richmond Town Council’s firework display last night. 🎇 This year we were also treated to a Halloween themed drone display . 🎃 Our PA system ensured that the crowd could clearly hear any announcements, the countdown and soundtrack.

It was great to see the event so well attended with lots of people enjoying the display including ourselves.

The team has been at Richmond Motor Club Scott Trial all day providing PA for the start and finish.

Despite the storm last weekend conditions this year have been some of the best making for some really quick times.

The team spent yesterday providing full PA and event control for Redcar Running Festival. We worked closely with the organisers, traffic management and First Aid proving a central hub to aid with the smooth running of the event.

There was a range of distances on offer: 3km, 10km and a half marathon. As always it was great to see the event busy with lots of people taking part.

On Sunday the team made their annually trip to the Lake Dsitirct for The Brownlee Foundation Events Helvellyn Triathlon. This year we provided a range of services including PA, radio hire, event control and marshals.

The day started out dry however conditions deteriorated becoming wet and windy with limited viability on the summit. Well done to all the competitors and the marshals for keeping everyone safe.

As ever it was great to be part of this unique event which is voted one of the top 10 hardest triathlons in the world by Triathlete Magazine.

Yesterday the team provided PA, radio hire and paygate staff for the 170th Sedgefield Show.

Similar to last year we used a mix of passive, active and 100V systems to provide commentary for five separate arenas. This year we had the added benefit of being able to mount some of our new speakers on scaffold poles so that they were above spectators heads improving coverage.

Last week the team spent five days onsite at Ard Rock Enduro.

Over the course of the event a 20 strong team provided car parking/camping admissions, site services and event control for thousands of competitors.

A double event kind of weekend.

1️⃣ Last weekend we spent three days at The Brownlee Foundation Events Ripon Triathlon Festival providing PA, radio hire and event control services. We worked closely alongside Cleveland Scouts Watersport who provided water safety cover for this event. It was great to see so many people taking part made better by the glorious sunshine.

2️⃣ On Saturday the team also provided a small PA system for the opening of 1st Norton-On-Tees Scout Group newly refurbished Scout hut.
