THIS SUNDAY 6th September is MEGA PICK TIME BABY 🎉

We’re heading to Seaton Carew for a beach clean ⛱️

🥣Bring a sieve for nurdle hunting.

☕ Free refreshments for all volunteers afterwards as a thank‑you for giving up your Sunday morning.

⚠️ Everyone is responsible for their own safety and takes part at their own risk. Children cannot volunteer alone. No individual or organiser is liable for accidents or injuries.

No local community litter pick this Sunday. Instead we are off to the beach! All the details are below but in short
10:00-11:30

Bring a sieve for sifting plastic nurdles out of the sand following the recent spill.

Mega Pick #11

Our next Mega Pick will be the 11th one and so far we have totalled 878 bags from the previous 10.

Mega Pick #11 is a beach clean! It seems like a long time since we all got a bit sandy together and left the beach in a much better state than when we found it.

The start time is 10am to give our friends from North Yorkshire time to get here without having to get up before they go to bed 🛌 💤

We are also going to joined by volunteers from the Heritage Coast Partnership, I look forward to meeting them. They do so much good work on the beaches up as far as Seaham.

If you have a spare sieve and fancy some nurdle hunting then this would be worth bringing along as there have been so many on our North East coast beaches lately.

If you are considering coming along to this as a first group litter pick with us then please drop a message in the comments so that we bring plenty of equipment for everyone.

Car shares are recommended as we need to pay for parking 🅿️

The cafe's will open at 11.30 where all volunteers can get a tea/coffee and of course some cake.

Special mention to Meesh Elle (Billingham)and Jamie Hughes (Norton) who completed a 12 hour litter pick yesterday (with support from others) to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

I really wish 🙏 more councils would ban 🚫balloon 🎈releases! Unfortunately we cannot rely on the public to make responsible choices. 🥺

Thank you to Ingleby resident, Mark Astbury who kindly donated 6 litter pickers to our project. These were passed on to Jamie at Norton Clean Up Your Act and will be put to good use.

There is no local community pick this week. We are off to Portrack Lane again (our 3rd mega pick here!) to tackle the bottom end near Portrack Roundabout and the area around Wickes, Greggs, Costa, Wrens etc. Plenty of parking on Lustrum Ave in front of Linthorpe Beds or just further along in front of Jolleys Pets. Start at 09:30, finish at 11:00ish. There will be refreshments afterwards and a chance to catch up with our fellow mega pickers from
