THE GREATEST PERSON TO TEACH US ABOUT EVANGELISM IS JESUS

Not a famous preacher.

Not a church programme.

Not a conference.

Jesus.

Nobody ever reached more people.

Nobody ever changed more lives.

Nobody ever loved people better.

When you look at how Jesus shared the Good News, a few things stand out.

1. Jesus Went Where People Were

Jesus did not sit in a building waiting for people to come to Him.

He went to them.

He walked dusty roads.

He stood by fishing boats.

He sat in homes.

He met people at wells.

He visited towns and villages.

Jesus took the message to the people.

Lesson: If we want to reach people, we have to get out among them.

You cannot catch fish sitting in the car park.

2. Jesus Loved People Before He Challenged Them

Jesus saw people as people, not projects.

He ate with tax collectors.

He spoke to outcasts.

He welcomed people that everybody else had written off.

People knew He cared about them.

Then He challenged them to follow Him.

Lesson: People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.

3. Jesus Asked Questions

Jesus was a master at asking questions.

“Who do you say I am?”

“What do you want me to do for you?”

“Do you want to get well?”

Jesus knew that a good question can open a heart faster than a good argument.

Lesson: Sometimes the best thing you can do is listen and ask.

4. Jesus Used Simple Stories

Jesus talked about things ordinary people understood.

Seeds.

Sheep.

Fishing.

Families.

Lost coins.

Farmers.

He took deep truth and made it simple.

Lesson: You don’t need fancy words to reach people.

Most people remember a story long after they have forgotten a sermon.

5. Jesus Met Needs

Jesus didn’t just preach.

He fed hungry people.

He healed sick people.

He comforted broken people.

He welcomed lonely people.

His words and His actions matched.

Lesson: Love opens doors that arguments never will.

People listen differently when they know they are loved.

6. Jesus Always Pointed People to His Father

Jesus never made it about Himself.

Everything He did pointed people towards His Father.

The goal was never to win an argument.

The goal was always to win people.

Lesson: Evangelism is not about making people like us.

It is about helping people meet Jesus.

A Gram Seed Quote

“Jesus never treated people like numbers to be counted. He treated them like people to be loved. That’s why lives were changed wherever He went.”

— Gram Seed

AS I RESEARCHED HOW JESUS TAUGHT US TO EVANGELISE

As I looked at the way Jesus reached people, I couldn’t help but smile.

Because the more I studied His approach, the more I realised:

That’s exactly what Sowing Seeds Ministries has tried to do for nearly twenty years.

Jesus went to where the people were.

So do we.

We go into Category A, B, C and D prisons.

We go into secure centres and young offender institutions.

We go into schools, colleges and universities.

We go into churches and youth centres.

We go onto the streets, estates and communities.

We go into homes, cafés, hospitals, and anywhere people need hope.

And if the phone rings, we go.

Day or night.

Weekday or weekend.

Because lost people matter to Jesus.

And if they matter to Jesus, they matter to us.

Like Jesus, we believe people are more important than programmes.

So we love people.

We listen to people.

We sit with people.

We cry with people.

We laugh with people.

We walk alongside people.

Because evangelism is not about winning arguments.

It is about winning hearts.

Like Jesus, we teach people and ask questions.

We help people think.

We help people wrestle with life’s biggest questions.

We create safe places where people can be honest about their doubts, fears, failures and struggles.

Because a question can often open a door that a sermon cannot.

Like Jesus, we tell stories.

We tell the greatest story ever told — the Gospel.

But we also tell stories of lives transformed by Jesus.

Stories of addicts set free.

Prisoners finding hope.

Families reunited.

Young people discovering purpose.

Men and women who were written off by society but rewritten by grace.

Because people may argue with theology, but it is hard to argue with a changed life.

And like Jesus, we always point people to the Saviour.

Not to a ministry.

Not to a church.

Not to a preacher.

Not to ourselves.

To Jesus.

Because Jesus is still the answer.

Jesus is still changing lives.

Jesus is still setting captives free.

Jesus is still healing broken hearts.

Jesus is still saving souls.

Over the years, the book One Step Beyond has travelled far beyond anything we could ever have imagined.

It has been read by millions of people and translated into Arabic, Finnish and Swedish.

Through prisons, schools, churches, outreach events, Alpha courses, youth work, street ministry and countless conversations over a cup of tea, we have seen hundreds of thousands of people make decisions to follow Jesus.

Lives transformed.

Families restored.

Hope reborn.

But at the end of it all, there is only one thing left to say:

Thank You, Jesus.

Every life changed.

Every addiction broken.

Every prisoner restored.

Every family healed.

Every young person rescued.

Every soul saved.

The glory belongs to You.

You called us.

You led us.

You opened the doors.

You changed the lives.

And You deserve all the praise.

As the Bible says:

“Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to Your name be the glory.” (Psalm 115:1)

Sowing Seeds Ministries is simply scattering seed.

Jesus is the One who makes it grow.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR EYES

You can be good to people…
and they can still choose wrong.

You can love people…
and they can still walk away.

You can give your time, your heart, your energy…
and still get nothing back.

And if you don’t understand that,
this life will harden you.

There was a girl who hated herself because she was blind.

Couldn’t stand who she was.
Couldn’t stand what she saw in the mirror—well, what she couldn’t see.

But there was one person she loved.

Her boyfriend.

He stood by her.
Walked with her.
Saw her when she couldn’t see herself.

And she said something powerful one day:

“If I could just see… I’d marry you.”

That was her condition.
That was her line.

“If things change for me… then I’ll love you fully.”

One day, everything changed.

She received a pair of eyes.

Now imagine that moment.

Darkness… to light.
Blur… to clarity.
Fear… to sight.

The first time she saw the world.
Colours. Faces. Movement.

And then… she saw him.

The one who never left her.

The one who loved her when she couldn’t love herself.

And what did she see?

He was blind.

And just like that…
her love changed.

She refused to marry him.

The very man who carried her…
she now rejected.

Why?

Because now she could see.

Or at least… she thought she could.

Sometime later, he left her a note:

“Take care of your eyes, my dear…
because before they were yours, they were mine.”

Now stop there.

Let that sink in.

He gave her sight…
and she lost vision.

He gave her something priceless…
and she couldn’t recognise the value of the one who gave it.

That’s not just a story.

That’s life.

Listen,

Kindness doesn’t guarantee loyalty.
Love doesn’t guarantee return.
Sacrifice doesn’t guarantee honour.

You can pour your life into someone…
and they can still choose themselves over you.

Not because you weren’t enough.

But because their heart isn’t right.

See, the real issue in that story isn’t blindness.

It’s the heart.

You can fix someone’s situation…
but you can’t fix their soul.

You can change what’s around them…
but only they can choose what’s within them.

That’s why you’ve got to be careful.

Don’t measure your worth
by how people respond to your love.

Because if you do…
you’ll stop loving.

And the world doesn’t need more cold hearts.

Even Jesus Christ faced this.

Think about it.

He healed people…
and some still walked away.

He fed thousands…
and they still doubted.

He loved perfectly…
and they still nailed Him to a cross.

So if perfect love was rejected…
why do we think ours won’t be?

Here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear:

Love is a risk.

You give it knowing…
it might not come back.

You show up knowing…
you might not be appreciated.

You stay true knowing…
others might not.

But you don’t change who you are
because of who they are.

Don’t let someone else’s blindness
make you lose your sight.

Don’t let their rejection
rewrite your identity.

And don’t let their ingratitude
shut down your heart.

Because when you stop loving…
you lose something far more valuable than they ever did.

But let me balance it.

This doesn’t mean you stay where you’re not valued.

No.

Love doesn’t mean being walked over.

It doesn’t mean being used.

And it doesn’t mean ignoring truth.

Sometimes the most loving thing you can do…
is step back.

Not in anger.
Not in bitterness.

But in wisdom.

Because real love isn’t just giving.

It’s also knowing when to release.

Knowing when to say:

“I did my part.”

“I gave what was real.”

“I stayed true.”

That lad in the story?

He didn’t lose.

Even though it looks like it.

Because anyone who can love like that…
is already walking in something powerful.

He gave.

He sacrificed.

He loved without conditions.

That’s strength.

So here’s the question for you.

Are you loving to get something back?
Or are you loving because it’s who you are?

Because if your love is based on return…
you’ll always end up empty.

But if your love is rooted in truth…
you’ll stand, no matter what people do.

Let me leave you with this, and I want it to land deep:

Don’t become blind in your heart
just because someone else couldn’t see your value.

And if you ever forget everything else I’ve said today… remember this line:

Take care of your heart, my friend…
because not everyone who receives from you
will recognise what it cost you.
