The Club was chartered in 1926, the second oldest in Great Britain, the oldest being our “Mother” Club, Greater London. Over 83 years there has been a wide-ranging representation of women from the professional and business communities in our Club. Our club supports and volunteers with many local projects and organisations, including The F2C (Freedom to Choose) Conference, St Mary’s Sexual Assault
Referral Centre, St. Mary’s Children’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre and The Cornerstones Centre. As well as the local projects, we are also involved with many international projects. These include The Sight Camp in India and Orissa’s New Hope Leprosy Colony also in India. We also participate in Mary's Meals' backpack project. We have three Trust Funds:- The Greater Manchester NSPCC, a Benevolent Fund for the Elderly and one for “Young People”, for which the subject is selected annually. In addition we have two annual prizes at the Royal Northern College of Music, one for a graduate in composing or conducting and the other for a vocalist in the Junior RNCM School.
