Pure Innovations Pure Innovations is a charity supporting people to live more independent, fulfilled lives.
(1)

We work alongside individuals to build confidence, develop skills and create opportunities through support, employment and community services. Pure became an independent charity following a TUPE transfer from Stockport Council in 2005. We are a values led, creative organisation and our objectives are to promote independence, increase choice and provide appropriate support to people to enable them

to make the most of their capacity and potential. In 1987 Employment Services was a part of Stockport Borough Council, providing employment opportunities and day care for people with a Learning Disability. We began a journey to modernise traditional day care across Stockport, moving away from larger institutions into smaller, community based settings. This move came from a strong belief in the philosophy that if we can support people to hold valued roles within communities then people with a disability would feel valued, and be recognised by others to have value. In 2005 we left the Local Authority and set up the charity Pure Innovations, continuing our vision to support a diverse range of people to live independent, healthy and valued lives in their communities. Today, we continue with our aim of supporting people to have a fulfilled life, with a sense of purpose and belonging. This can mean different things to different people and so Pure Innovations strives to provide a wide and varied offer, ranging from employment, volunteering and independent life skills to pursuing a variety of hobbies and interests. Our values have not changed over the years and have become a part of our DNA. We will be aspirational and believe in people’s ability to achieve amazing things even when they don’t believe it themselves.

One of the things we hear most often through AutismWISE is how important connection and belonging can be. Having spaces where people feel comfortable, welcomed and understood really does make a difference.

AutismWISE brings together support, community and opportunities for autistic adults across Manchester, helping people build confidence, friendships and a sense of belonging without judgement.

What if lowering expectations in education isn’t inclusion… but a barrier to independence?

Our Head of College, Kaylie Crompton, has written a thought-provoking piece exploring why high expectations matter for young people with SEND, and how support should empower learners to achieve meaningful, real-world outcomes, not just protect them from challenge.

Using examples from Pure College, including a simple baking project that became a lesson in confidence, the article looks at how challenge, the right support and belief in learners’ abilities can lead to genuine growth 💙👏

It was a pleasure to welcome local MP Navendu Mishra to Pure College!

The visit gave us an important opportunity to discuss the future of SEND provision and the vital role specialist education plays in helping young people build confidence and independence.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing our students take part in a brilliant Q&A session, asking thoughtful, challenging and politically relevant questions with confidence and honesty 👏

The visit finished with Navendu meeting Louie, one of our talented students currently completing a placement with fantastic host employer Rise Homes alongside managers Sarah and Gary.

Thank you Navendu and everyone involved for a brilliant day 😊

Our elephant now has a name… say hello to Apollo 🐘💙

A big thank you to everyone who shared their ideas, we loved seeing all your suggestions and it wasn’t an easy decision!

Apollo will be heading to Blackpool Zoo for EleFest this July, where around 3,000 visitors are expected, such a great opportunity to showcase the creativity and hard work of our clients.

After the event, he’ll also be on display at the zoo over the summer and we’re really looking forward to seeing Apollo there!

We’re really proud of Zack, who has spent the last six months handcrafting this incredible fire engine planter 🚒

With support from Janis, Will and our art facilitator Vicky, Zack has not only built his creative skills but also his confidence, even reaching out to Heywood Fire Station himself to arrange the donation of his masterpiece!

It was such a lovely moment seeing him gift it in person, with his friends and family there too. A big thank you to the team at Heywood Fire Station for the warm welcome and for making it such a special day.

We love seeing things like this come together and the difference it makes. Huge well done Zack, you should be so proud 👏

We had the pleasure of welcoming Liz, who runs her own seamstress business Sew It Seams, to spend the day with us last week as she generously offered to support and upskill six of our clients, sharing her knowledge and guiding them through the process with so much patience and encouragement 🙌

Using leftover materials from the Stockport County Football Club chairs project, the group worked together to create something meaningful, turning what could have been waste into two beautiful blankets that will now be gifted to the club for their quiet room at the stadium.

Liz brought such a positive energy and genuine passion for teaching, thank you for making such a big difference to our session 💙
