If you are running or are interested in running a event for Interfaith Week 2026, we will be hosting a webinar with a briefing including key information you need to know on how to run an event.

The Stockport Local Plan consultation is now open ⬇

At this stage, comments should focus on whether the plan meets legal requirements and is sound, including whether it is supported by evidence, can be delivered and is consistent with national planning policy.

The team are also holding three consultation events where residents, community groups and anyone else who is interested can find out more about the Local Plan and get information on how to submit their representations:

Saturday 3 October – 10am–4pm – Merseyway shopping centre, SK1 1PU

Tuesday 6 October – 10am–4pm – Adlington Walkway, SK1 1PU

Wednesday 7 October – 5pm–8pm – Stopford House Reception, SK1 3XE

The Stockport Local Plan consultation is now open.

This is your opportunity to comment on whether the published plan is legally compliant and sound before it is submitted for independent examination.

When you respond, tell us which policy, site, map or section you are commenting on. Explain what you support or object to, why, and any change you would like to see. Evidence and local knowledge can help make your comment clear and relevant.

The consultation closes on 8 November.

❗Poverty-Informed Practice Training - available for those supporting residents in Stockport

Whether you work directly with residents, provide advice and support, or help shape services and policies, understanding the impact of poverty is essential to delivering effective and compassionate support.

As part of Stockport's Anti-Poverty objectives and the commitment to creating a fairer and more inclusive borough, Stockport Council would like to invite all colleagues from partner organisations across the voluntary, community, faith, social enterprise and public sectors to attend their Poverty-Informed Practice Training.

The training will help participants:

-Better understand the realities and impacts of poverty.
-Recognise and reduce stigma associated with poverty.
-Build confidence in conversations about financial hardship.
-Develop approaches that are sensitive to the challenges faced by residents.
-Support fairer outcomes for people and communities across Stockport.

You only need to attend one session, so please book the date that works best for you:

🚨Stockport Volunteer Fair is happening this Wednesday

This is a big event in the calendar to support local Stockport voluntary & community organisations to, not only recruit volunteers, but, raise awareness of their cause.

Merseyway Shopping Centre is one of, if not THE, busiest locations in Stockport and so stallholders will benefit from passing footfall throughout the day of residents who may not have heard of their organisation before.

We are looking forward to it!

Each month our Meet the Expert will have a different theme, with different experts. You'll also have access to our quiet room if you need space to get your head down and get some work done.

This month, our experts are:

Kerri Swindells from The National Lottery Community Fund - TNLCF is the largest single source of funding for community activities in the UK. Kerri is a Funding Officer in the Greater Manchester Team working in Tameside and Stockport, and will be here to tell you more about the Funds on offer, how to apply and answer any questions.

Andy Guy, Head of Charity and Faith Insurance at Acrisure North who can help you understand what you need insurance for, and access tailored insurance solutions, whether to protect a business, safeguard a community organisation, or cover what matters most.

Ian Wilson and Laura Turner from The Vernon Building Society, who can tell you about the Vernon Charitable Foundation and their local grants, as well as opening a free bank account for your organisation and gaining interest for your reserves.
