🚨 Project COMEDY at the Edinburgh Fringe: A Triumph of Spirit and Purpose 🎭

At a time when resources are stretched, engagement is waning, and political support has all but disappeared, Project COMEDY has done something truly extraordinary: it has not just survived, it has flourished.

Against all odds, a dedicated team of veterans and allies took to the stage at the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, delivering over 70 performances across two flagship shows. 1) Gags Army and 2) v , raising over £4,500, and receiving glowing reviews from critics and audiences alike.

They did this with:
✔️ No external funding
✔️ Deep personal sacrifice
✔️ Unshakeable camaraderie
✔️ A relentless commitment to recovery through humour

The result? Two powerful brands that not only entertained, but broke down barriers, challenged perceptions, and gave voice to lived experiences with and authenticity.

💬 One Fringe veteran described them as “the emotional bedrock of the festival.”
Another said, “I have never seen such camaraderie in my career.”

At Project RECCE CIO, we often talk about building bridges between and civilian life. This team built a bridge out of laughter and walked hundreds of people across it, audience by audience, show by show.

This was not just a series of gigs. It was a mission with purpose.

And while the core charity faces serious challenges, including dwindling resources and reduced input, Project is proving what can be done when people come together with belief, skill, and unity of purpose.

To all those involved: ‘thank you’. You have inspired us. You’ve reminded us why we started this journey in the first place.

The new Rotary year begins in July. We welcomed Kevin as President ,Jane as Treasurer and Andrew as Secretary and president elect. This was taken at our annual assembly meeting on 25th June where we laid out plans for next years activities . As always we will have a busy year and look forward to the usual generous support from the residents of Stockport.

From heart-pumping track experiences to meaningful conversations about transition into civilian careers, the event perfectly combined the adrenaline of motorsport with practical support for our Armed Forces community.
