Sending out a big THANK YOU this evening.

We had lots of extra hands of help today as we continue to prepare for our Summer School holiday programme.

People did sorting out and organising for so many different things!

As well as looking after everyone as part of our weekly Friday offering.

We welcomed new volunteers and our mini salon crew who offered Henna and Nails ๐Ÿ’…

It is so appreciated, the leadership team are particularly grateful as they made lots of headway in planning.

Excellent day of helpfulness. Next week we have our planned walk!

Excited for this to get started ๐Ÿ™Œ

โ˜•Have you ever heard of Friendly Fridays?

This multi-generational community drop takes place every Friday at the Rose Walker Community Centre. What's even better is this group really does have something for everyone,

"Itโ€™s like a large family lounge with board games, art and craft supplies, a library area, a childrenโ€™s play area, comfy armchairs, tables and chairs in a garden area at the back. We create the space our visitors use it as they wish"

Once a month a member of the Signpost team will be heading over to Friendly Fridays to chat and engage with attendees, so keep an eye out!

This Friday we are working with a local school and two students who want to share their passion with our community.

They will be offering henna and nails! We will have a little mini salon bar.

We are really looking forward to this.

Just a reminder that you can find us every Friday 10 am - 2 pm at the Rose Walker Community Centre, Essex Avenue, Stockport SK3 0JA. Everything is provided for FREE for our community and that includes drinks, snacks and even lunch. Drop in or stay all day. We welcome all ages and all abilities. Vulnerable adults and children must be accompanied by a suitable, supervising adult (18 years+).

It was lovely to be back together last week after our two week break!

The highlight of the day was a real taste of summer...huge platters of strawberries, grapes, cherries, and blueberries ๐Ÿ˜Š

Even though the rain came down, the room was full of smiles as we chatted together, welcomed back familiar faces (hi, Trish!), met some new volunteers, and had a go at making pocket envelopes.

See you again on Friday, whatever the weather ๐ŸŒž โ˜€๏ธ ๐ŸŒค ๐ŸŒง ๐ŸŒฆ

Don't forget to bring your cardboard boxes to us this week!

Please bring us your cardboard on Fridays within the hours of 09:00 and 14:00 on any Friday between 12th June and 24th July to the Rose Walker Community Centre, Essex Avenue, SK3 0JA.

Important: We are not able to collect or offer a different day for you to drop off the cardboard - apologies but we are a little limited on that front! We appreciate not everyone can make those hours.

Here's why we need the cardboard:

On the first Friday of the school holidays (this year Friday 31st July) we have a big cardboard creative session. We let the kids use their imagination. We have seen robots (including a robot workshop), a ball run, a castle, a whole town, a pirate ship and lots more. It's become a bit of a tradition. We do provide tools, tape and some volunteer helpers but as always, parents/guardians do need to supervise vulnerable adults and children.

Thank you for reading and please do share this along to others.

Our youngest and proudest volunteer Zarah!

Zarah attends as a young volunteer every week at Friendly Fridays supported by her mum Katy. They are both part of our core volunteer team.

Katy's mum posted this picture in February this year and said: "Look at our official helper in her pink vest! ๐Ÿ’• Another amazing day at Friendly Fridays . Zarah absolutely loves going here, especially because she gets to take on the very important jobs of playing with the younger ones and helping to tidy up. Itโ€™s the highlight of her week, and seeing her so proud makes it the highlight of mine. Canโ€™t wait for next week! ๐ŸŒŸ"

We have watched Zarah grow in confidence, she now comes and asks for jobs, she helps us set up early in the morning and stays until the end of the day. She has lots of jobs that are just hers to do. She smiles at everyone and is so polite. We are so lucky to have her as part of our team and have enjoyed watching Zarah become part of our community. And mum, Katy, has joined our core volunteer team as well!

Thank you to mum Katy, for posting this, for supporting us and Zarah and for becoming part of our team. We are lucky to have you both and want you to know that you are really appreciated!
