Today (23 June), we remember Alan Turing on what would have been his birthday.

Widely regarded as the father of modern computing and artificial intelligence, Turing played a crucial role in cracking the Enigma code during World War II, helping to shorten the war and save countless lives.

Despite his achievements, Turing was prosecuted in 1952 for being gay and subjected to chemical castration.

He died aged 41 in 1954 from cyanide poisoning, in a death officially ruled as s*icide.

World Refugee Day sits inside Pride Month this year, and that matters.

LGBTQIA+ refugees and people seeking asylum may be carrying layers of trauma, uncertainty and loss β€” not only from what they have fled, but from the systems they must navigate afterwards.

Q***r safety is not only about being able to celebrate. It is about housing, healthcare, legal protection, community, language access, culturally informed support, and being believed.

No one should have to choose between safety and identity.

With care and solidarity for LGBTQIA+ refugees, asylum seekers and migrants today.

Today, EPOA launches State of Pride: the first-ever pan-European report on Pride organising. Based on responses from 112 Pride organisers across Europe, the report provides a unique insight into the realities behind Pride events, from growth and funding to volunteer capacity, safety and civic space.

Pride is one of the most visible expressions of freedom, equality and democracy. This report helps us better understand the conditions under which Pride organisations operate and the challenges and opportunities they face.
