At OmniMusic, we use lots of amazing accessible music technology to bring the joy of music to Disabled children, young people and adults.
One of those pieces of tech is the CMPSR (pronounced ‘composer’) shown in this video.
The CMPSR is a MIDI interface that uses a joystick to produce musical notes. A MIDI interface doesn’t produce sound directly, but you can connect it to a computer or iPad to make the sound of any instrument you like.
We use this instrument where someone’s range of motion doesn’t allow them to use many other instruments.
In our sessions, the Digit CMPSR is often used by electric wheelchair users, because they can use the muscle memory they already have from using the joystick on their wheelchair to play something new.
In the coming weeks and months we’ll do some more posts about some of the amazing accessible tech we use in our sessions.
