📉 Breaking Point in Scottish Schools: Rethinking Support for Teachers

A new School Leaders Scotland survey paints a sobering picture:

Senior teachers average 53 hours a week, some exceeding 80+ hours.

61% are considering leaving early.

Aggression in classrooms and under-resourced ASN support are piling on pressure.

The Scottish Government has pledged £186.5m to boost staffing and £29m for ASN recruitment and retention, alongside plans to reduce contact time. Positive steps—but compared globally, it still feels like a sticking plaster on a much deeper wound.

🔑 Why this matters:

Supported teachers → thriving students.

Sustainable workloads → stronger schools.

Effective ASN support → calmer classrooms.

👉 The big questions:

How can we balance teacher workload with well-being more effectively?

Could restorative practices ease classroom stress?

What role should the Government, unions, and schools play in driving real change?

🌍 Microadventures — Escaping the AI Buzz

I am sure I am not alone, but each day we are constantly immersing ourselves in technology through our phones, AI and the normal fire-hose of attention-seeking notifications.

It is essential for our own energies that we swap screens for some time out. Microadventures are an essential way to connect with nature and switch off.

If you haven't read it, pick up Robin Sharma's The Wealth Money Can't Buy. It provides an excellent recommendation for habits to build into our lives, with adventure being one form of wealth.

🚴‍♂️This weekend I swapped AI for singletrack: a gravel bike loop and camp around Loch Laggan & Ben Alder, Scotland. No mobile signal, so it was a complete switch off.

Microadventures are surprisingly easy to plan and execute. A day or two outside resets us, sparks creativity, and brings back better thinking when we do sit down with our daily challenges and our AI again.

Why it works for me:
- Headspace in nature > removes overload
- Real-world experiences = fresh ideas
- Small adventures result in increased momentum

AI is changing everything. I am a full believer and supporter BUT balance keeps us human.

📚 What is the rise in Home Education telling us about the Future of Learning

A summary of the article published by the BBC told us that last year's figures show the most significant surge in home education since the pandemic, with nearly 50,000 children deregistered from schools in England last year.

The driving force? Mental health and wellbeing.

Families are seeking personalised, flexible learning that prioritises the individual child. Take 10-year-old Dakota’s story: since moving from mainstream schooling to home education, she’s thriving—learning at her own pace, exploring her creativity, and enjoying a happier, more confident life.

This trend is more than a statistic. It’s a signal: education systems need to adapt.

Parents, policymakers, and educators must ask: How can we design learning environments that support every child’s needs while still fostering community and opportunity?

WHAT WE ARE BUILDING AND WHY NOW?

I am being asked what we are developing in Global Digital, so I'm sharing a summary of what we're currently building and why we're doing it now.

We are creating a Learning platform, EduAgentic, which introduces the concept of Learn and Earn, enabling Teachers to share their knowledge, passion, and skills to help learners learn, making a transformational impact.

We are doing this with AI Agents supporting both the teacher and learner, connecting to blockchain social token rewards launched as part of our platform.

Why now? We aim to empower anyone to utilise the most advanced technology without requiring technical expertise. There is a lot of chat but less action. We are at a global tipping point where our youth will struggle to find jobs or achieve personal success.

Did you know global figures show 84 million youth are out of school, 300 million lack basic numeracy and literacy, and Africa has one of the youngest populations with 540 million under 14. Only half of those who could enrol in education did so. (UNESCO figures)

We can all make a difference by taking action and helping many. For those who follow Astrology, this is an energetic time for change and progress.

What's the change? More impactful teaching, an AI-supported learning process that makes it easier for both teachers and learners, and an opportunity with social tokens to help alleviate poverty in disadvantaged countries.

We need to recognise that we can form our future and not simply be spectators. We all see the world changing around us at a speed not seen before. I think Dr Eric Solomon's TEDx talk, "Robots are here. Are we?", encapsulates what we need to be thinking about.
