* Westhaugh Community Needs You *
Public meeting: Wednesday 21st August, 6.45pm to 8.15pm at Cornton Primary School

Dear Westhaugh Resident,
As local residents ourselves, we are writing to you to ask if you will attend a meeting to discuss how we best resolve issues affecting Westhaugh and the local community since the administration of Stewart Milne. As you may be aware, there are several unresolved matters, which we believe might most effectively be managed by Westhaugh residents forming a constituted community group.
These include:1. Maintenance of the Children’s PlayparkThis has not been maintained since being built, and is now in a dangerous condition. The grass is no longer mowed by the estate factor (Greenbelt), becauseStewart Milne, who paid for maintenance, are in administration. Responsibility for maintenance falls to residents in our title deeds.2. Maintenance and mowing of the football pitch3. Negotiating an improved program of work by the estate factor (Greenbelt)4. Addressing the Giant Hogweed in areas the estate factor currently refuses to maintain.
We are therefore calling a public meeting on Wednesday 21st August, from 6.45pm til 8.15pm at Cornton Primary School which will aim to set up a Westhaugh community group. At this meeting we will seek up to 12 volunteers to sit on a quarterly residents committee, with the minimum required positions being Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary.
Setting up a community group will allow for both serious issues to be resolved and fun activities and community events to be organised. We also hope to draw up a list of collective skills and interests within our community, to help build on successful community activities currently coordinated through the residents WhatsApp and pages.
If you would like to attend, would like to raise an issue or area of interest that could be tackled by a community group, or are interested but unable to attend, please contact [email protected] .
We look forward to seeing and hearing from you.

Kate Flemming, Crispin Bennett, Amanda Namey, Alasdair Tollemache, John McLachlan

Can you help us to grow On the Verge? We are looking for volunteers throughout Stirling and Clackmannanshire (ideally a couple in each council ward) to help with our school’s programme roll out. This would involve

• Visiting the potential school and agreeing whether a pollinator patch is feasible.
• Working with teachers to guide the pupils as they sow the seed.
• Periodically checking on existing sites, sending in photos and feedback and letting the On the Verge team know if a site needs additional attention.

Training will be given, and you can choose to work with one school or several, according to how much time you have.

If you would like to find out more, please email [email protected]

Hoping this will get things moving forward.

Hoping this will get things moving forward.

The issue has been dragging on for several years, with residents left frustrated by a lack of progress.
