Happy Birthday to us! Sixty years ago today saw the first performance of what evolved into Livingstone Players - the current name of our group.
On 30th March 1966, the AGM of Livingstone Parish Church took place and after business was completed, there was a performance of the Gilbert and Sullivan comedic opera, "Trial By Jury".
Less than three weeks later on 19th April, it was performed again, this time as part of a larger concert in front of a paying audience in the Church hall. This performance, by members of the "Livingstone Church Operatic Group", helped raise over £30 for Christian Aid.
It's amazing to think that six decades later, the group is still active and well-supported by audiences who attend our annual pantomime. What began as a vision of the late Rev. Iain Roy, continues with the same ethos - giving opportunities for adults and children to perform on stage, entertaining the local community at affordable prices and raising money for charity.
Nowadays, the group is led by a large, hard-working team who are already busy preparing for Cinderella 2026. As we enter our seventh decade, our core values remain the same and we hope to continue our productions for many years to come.
