facing years of fear, pain and a life i struggled to maintain.
I had my tp-ait surgery and walked into a new phase of life, dealing with new health challenges and re learning who claire is....
Now i walk into another new phase but this path i walk alone, this path is harder and i feel heart break hurts more than physical pain ever did....
On wards and forwards ....

Omnipod 5 update:

So I have had the pod running for 2 days now and I am amazed already at the differance in my levels.
Instead of hitting my normal 1am highs of 22 I have been a steady 9..
I don't go so high after eating now as my insulin is quick to start bringing it down.

I had a surprise phonecall yesterday informing me I was booked in for my hip joint steroid and ansthetic injections today under sedation and x ray guidance. That was a shock as I not been given a date, my thoughts straight away though " oh God my pump"
I contacted my nurse who simple said pause the insulin for an hour and then put a new pump on after.

That part went great, I put insulin on pause for 1hr and removed pod (as they can't be near xray machines) and then had a new one filled with insulin, placed in its new position on my back , and up and running within 10 minutes..

The tough part was having 22 attempts at placing a cannula. Being told "all your veins are thrombosed we will do it with gas and air sorry"
Wel thank God it doesn't take long to do because that pain is really not pleasant!

The steroids have put my sugars up for awhile so I have temporarily upped my basal by 20%..
GO ME !

On bed rest now for awhile, with a very swollen and painful hip..
But upside is loving life with my pump!

Good morning all,

This weekend i climbed snowdon (rangers route) with my husband, son, daughter and my dad.
This was a very personal climb, it was for and with my dad.
He amazes me every day with his strength and determination as he fights many awful health conditions (he won't thank me writing them on here)
It was a slow climb together as a family, time and talking, and lots of laughing with our end goal (the summit ) always in sight.
We are still paying for this 3 days later, but what an amazing weekend.
