Ireland says no to fireworks nationwide, helping protect animals from the fear, panic, and suffering caused by loud explosions and sudden flashes of light.
Under Irish law, most fireworks are restricted and require a licence, while only low-hazard Category F1 fireworks are generally available to the public. These restrictions help limit the dangers associated with fireworks and their use.
For animals, fireworks are not a celebration. Dogs may tremble and hide, cats may panic, birds can become disoriented, and wild animals may flee in search of safety. The sudden noise can leave animals distressed and even cause them to injure themselves while trying to escape.
Animals cannot understand why the sky suddenly erupts with deafening bangs. They only feel frightened, vulnerable, and desperate to find somewhere safe. Their suffering deserves to be taken seriously, not dismissed as an unavoidable part of a celebration.
Celebrations should bring joy, not fear. Animals deserve peace, safety, and a world where their well-being matters more than fireworks.
