Due to the current weather warning regarding the area experiencing extreme heat over the coming days, we have taken the decision to cancel services from 23rd June – 25th June 2026 inclusive.

Staff & Customer welfare is paramount along with protection of our infrastructure and it is felt the risk in the extreme heats forecast, is too high for us to do this.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

The current plan is that services will resume on Saturday 27th June 2026 onwards.

If you have pre-booked tickets, you will be contacted via email with options available to you.

At present, Minehead station shop and café will be open on the above dates between 10.00 and 15.30, however this will be monitored over the coming days.

We look forward to welcoming you to the West Somerset Railway once temperatures reach a safer level.

We shall keep our social media and website as up to date as possible throughout the week.

It is with great sadness that we share the news that former Williton Station volunteer Richard Salt has passed away following a long illness.

Richard will be remembered by many as a unique, caring and dedicated individual whose enthusiasm for the West Somerset Railway was evident to all who met him. He possessed a remarkable knowledge of the railway and was always willing to share it with visitors and fellow volunteers alike.

Richard’s interactions with customers were superb. His friendly manner, patience and genuine interest in people helped create lasting memories for countless visitors to the railway over the years.

Richard will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues across the West Somerset Railway family. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time.

Details of Richard’s funeral arrangements will be shared as soon as they are known.

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that our Deputy Station Master, Phil Chapman, passed away this morning. Phil was highly respected and much-loved throughout the West Somerset Railway. May he Rest in Peace.
