Please see below important information regarding the the resident doctors strike this week.

⚠️ Resident doctors are on strike from 7am on Monday 15 June until 7am on Friday 19 June.

If you need urgent medical help but you’re not sure where to go, contact NHS 111.

Please remember that A&E is for life-threatening emergencies but there are a range of other NHS services to help:

You can send your symptoms and requests through your GP’s website or via the NHS App, as well as contacting them by phone. Remember, your GP is open until 6.30pm and if you need help out of hours, please visit NHS 111 or phone 111.
🤗 Self-care – visit our website or the NHS App for information about how to treat yourself for some common conditions.
👶 Children’s health and wellbeing – visit our website for information about common childhood illnesses, including advice on what ‘red-flag’ signs to look out for, where to seek help if required and how long your child’s symptoms are likely to last.
🧠 Mental health support – visit 111 online or phone 111 (option 2).
‼️ Mental health crisis sanctuaries – can help you with support, information and guidance if you are over 18 years old and experiencing mental health issues or in a mental health crisis.
🦷Urgent dental care – visit 111 online or phone NHS111 to arrange an urgent appointment. You don’t need to be registered with an NHS dentist.

This week our CEO and Clinical Lead, Dan and Emily were delighted to attend the RCC Leicestershire & Rutland awards ceremony.

These awards are an opportunity to celebrate and reward outstanding people, projects, and groups that uplift our rural communities. Much like a rural BAFTA this was an evening of inspirational people and groups delivering projects and services that are making a difference to our rural communities.

We are very proud to be one of a select few and are thrilled to announce that we were Runner Up in the Community Wellbeing Award - Large Organisation.

Congratulations to all the winners and runners up, and thank you to the RCC for a lovely evening. Together we are making our rural communities better.💛

Being a carer for a loved one can be tough. At Dove Cottage we understand.

That’s why we aim to support as many carers as possible and help them enjoy some time of their own.

We offer an informal support group providing connection to others who may be in a similar situation, offering advice, support and signposting to other services where relevant.

And tea. There's always tea. And cake.

Our carer support group takes place on Monday afternoons between 1.30 - 3pm.
To find out more about attending, complete the enquiry form at the website below and one of our team will be in touch.

We need your help!

Dove Cottage is looking for a range of photographs to be included in our 2027 calendar.

The theme will be ‘the area surrounding our charity shops’ and we are welcoming any images depicting landscapes or places of local interest (such as historic or interesting buildings)

The final calendar will be available for sale in the autumn via our hospice and four charity shops. Thanks to the generous support of local businesses, 100% of profits raised from the calendar go directly to fund the services of the hospice.

Closing date for entries is Friday 12th July 2026.
