This weekend, FS Bowler and Cpl Da Silviera attended the Bronze Fieldcraft Course in Colchester, further developing their military skills and fieldcraft knowledge.

Duke of Edinburgh Success – Congratulations FS Webb-Weller
Staying with Duke of Edinburgh success, a huge congratulations to Flight Sergeant Webb-Weller on a truly outstanding achievement.
She has successfully completed her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and was honoured to attend a celebration event at Buckingham Palace. The occasion was made even more special with The Duke of Edinburgh himself in attendance, alongside Air Commodore Lewis, Commandant RAF Air Cadets.
This is a particularly proud moment for the unit, as FS Webb-Weller becomes the first cadet from 1582 Squadron to achieve the Gold DofE Award.
A remarkable accomplishment and a testament to her commitment, resilience, and hard work — very well done!

Last weekend the Squadron took our 2026 Athletics Team to Colchester Garrison to take part in the Essex Wing Athletics Championships.
With 17 competing cadets, 2 Staff Cadets, and 1 very dedicated cadet spectator/cheerleader, this was the largest team we have taken.

While we did not take home any of the team prizes, the following cadets are all medallist . Well done to all the team.

Well done to our September 25 intake who all recently passed out into the main Squadron. They have now all completed their First Class Cadet Training.
Congratulations to Cdt Kennard who took home the Eddy Coull Trophy for best new recruit.

Last weekend was a busy one for 1582 Sqn.
The Friday saw our cadets help to form the Guard of Honour for the Mayor of Thurrock at her Gala Charity Dinner.
The Saturday had Cdts Deller and Osei TB complete the Pre NCO Course. And Cpl Da Silveira and Sgt Murray were at the Junior and Senior NCO Courses.
Cdt Osei TM completed her Silver Leadership award too.
Well done to all five cadets and thank you to CWO Briggs and FS Webb-Weller for going along to these courses to act as staff.

At the end of February we were at the Essex Wing Air Cadets Presentation and Awards evening.
CWO Briggs was one of the top 10 cadets in Essex, and was named as the Warrant Officer - Essex Wing Cadet Warrant Officer.
CWO Briggs joined us in September 2021 and has risen to the top of the squadron and now is one of the best cadets in Essex. He will now help to encourage other cadets to achieve their potential, and have a hand in the way training is done in the county.
All at 1582 are immensely proud of him. Well done.
