☕🌱 From coffee grounds to growing goodness! 🌱☕

A huge thank you to our lovely local bookshop and café, Ink & Ember, for saving all their used coffee grounds for us at The RORA Project Community Garden! 💚

Instead of going to waste, these coffee grounds are being sprinkled over our compost heap to help us create nutrient-rich compost for our community garden. ♻️🌿

But did you know coffee grounds can do more than just make your morning coffee?

🌱 3 facts about coffee grounds and composting:

1️⃣ They add organic matter – Coffee grounds help improve the texture and structure of compost, supporting healthier soil.

2️⃣ They contribute nutrients – Used coffee grounds contain small amounts of nitrogen and other minerals that contribute to healthy soil as they break down.

3️⃣ They support better growing conditions – Once mixed into well-balanced compost, coffee grounds help build healthier soil that supports strong roots and better crop growth. 🥕🍅

By working together, we're turning something that might otherwise be thrown away into something valuable for our community, our soil and the food we grow for our seasonal veg boxes! 🌿

It's a little reminder that small local actions can make a big difference. 💚

🐄💚 **CALLING ALL LOCAL FARMERS!** 🌱

The RORA Project Community Garden in Stamford is on the hunt for some **cow manure** to help nourish our soil and grow fresh produce for our community veg boxes this winter! 🥕🥔

Happy to come and bag it up by hand and take away whatever I can safely fit in the car. 🚗💩

🌻 Have you ever wondered why the sunflower associated with neurodiversity?

Let me explain, the sunflower has become particularly associated with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower scheme. The sunflower symbol is used to indicate that someone may have a disability or condition that isn't immediately visible and may need additional understanding, patience or support.

Although the sunflower itself does not exclusively mean neurodiversity, it has become widely recognised in the disability and inclusion space, including by many autistic and neurodivergent people.

It can represent 👇
🌻 Hidden differences – not everything about a person's needs is visible.
🌻 Individuality – everyone grows and develops differently.
🌻 Acceptance – differences shouldn't have to be hidden.
🌻 Support and understanding – a gentle visual reminder to be patient and inclusive.
🌻 Growth – particularly relevant to your work helping children and families develop confidence and wellbeing.
🌻 Hope and positivity – a less clinical and more welcoming representation of disability.

📣 Help us tell the TRPuk story!

We’re looking for a creative, enthusiastic and social-media-savvy volunteer to join our team and help grow the online presence of The RORA Project UK.

We do so much behind the scenes — from our community garden and workshops to volunteering, fundraising, wildlife projects and supporting SEND families — and we want to make sure our community gets to see it!

We’re looking for someone who can help us capture, share and celebrate the work we do, while growing our platforms and reaching more families, volunteers, supporters and potential funders.

📸 Your duties

Working alongside the TRPuk team, you will:

- 📱 Manage and support our social media presence
- 📅 Create and publish a minimum of 2 posts per week
- 📸 Take and use photographs showcasing our work, volunteers and community garden
- 🎥 Create engaging Reels and short-form video content
- 🌱 Showcase our community garden, workshops, projects and volunteer opportunities
- 👩‍🌾 Highlight the amazing work carried out by our volunteers
- 💚 Share our impact and the difference TRPuk makes to our community
- 📣 Promote upcoming events, workshops, fundraising activities and opportunities
- 🐝 Showcase our wildlife, gardening and pollinator projects
- 🌐 Update the TRPuk website at least once per month, including keeping events, workshops, volunteer opportunities, news and relevant information up to date
- 💡 Suggest new content ideas, campaigns and ways to reach new audiences
- 📈 Help grow our social media following and engagement
- 📊 Monitor engagement and identify what content performs well
- 🤝 Work closely with the TRPuk team to ensure our content reflects our values and mission
- 🌟 Celebrate our volunteers, supporters, partnerships and community achievements

🎥 The perfect candidate

We're looking for someone who:

- Loves social media and creating content
- Is confident taking photographs and videos
- Enjoys creating Reels and engaging visual content
- Has a good understanding of platforms such as Facebook and Instagram
- Is creative and full of ideas
- Can work independently and manage their own time
- Has good communication skills
- Is comfortable making basic website updates
- Is passionate about community projects, SEND inclusion, nature or volunteering
- Can commit to at least 2 social media posts per week
- Can complete at least one website update each month
- Wants to help a small community organisation grow

Previous social media or website experience is beneficial but not essential. We’re more interested in your creativity, enthusiasm and willingness to get involved!

🌼 Help us become Pollinator Superheroes!

We’re looking for a passionate florist, horticulture enthusiast or someone with a strong knowledge of flowers and plants to join our growing volunteer team at TRPuk.

Our community garden is all about creating a welcoming, inclusive green space where families can connect with nature, learn new skills and enjoy the benefits of gardening.

We want to take our garden to the next level — and we need your help!

🌻 Your duties

Working alongside our existing volunteer gardeners, you will:

- 🌱 Advise our gardening team on which flowers and plants to grow
- 🌸 Help us understand when and where to plant different flowers
- 🐝 Help us choose plants that support bees, butterflies and other pollinators
- 🦋 Help us create and develop pollinator-friendly areas
- 🌼 Share your knowledge, ideas and gardening tips with our volunteers
- 🌿 Help plan seasonal planting and develop new areas of the garden
- 🌱 Help us expand the variety of flowers and plants throughout TRPCG
- 💚 Help our community learn more about flowers, gardening and wildlife
- 🐝 Deliver informative, accessible workshops for our community around flowers, planting, gardening and pollinators
- 🌻 Help us introduce and develop a new Gardener Club, supporting families and volunteers to learn practical gardening skills
- 👩‍🌾 Work alongside our existing gardeners to share knowledge and build their confidence
- 🌱 Encourage children and families to get involved with growing and caring for plants
- 🦋 Help TRPuk become a true Pollinator Superhero Garden!

🐝 Who are we looking for?

You don't necessarily need formal qualifications. We're looking for someone with knowledge, enthusiasm and a genuine love of flowers, gardening and nature.

You could be:

- A qualified or experienced florist
- A keen gardener with specialist flower knowledge

So this happened last weekend 😀

Organising a inclusive space is one thing, but knowing your child is in safe hands is a whole other headspace.

Our founder chantelle passed her level 3 paediatric first aid training and it doesnt stop there...
Mid october will be adult first aid and forestry first aid being completed.

This means we are able to deal with any emergency that may arise (of course hoping to never need it)
