Everyone at Staithes and Runswick RNLI is deeply saddened by the tragic events at South Bank on Saturday morning.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the two officers who tragically lost their lives.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this heartbreaking incident, and with those who have been called upon to respond in its aftermath.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported Lifeboat Weekend 2026.

Together, you helped raise nearly £13,000 for Staithes and Runswick RNLI. Thank you to everyone who made the weekend possible and everyone who came along and supported us.

As the dust settles on Lifeboat Weekend 2026, we’re already looking ahead to next year.

As announced over the weekend, we’re pleased to confirm that Lifeboat Weekend 2027 will take place from 30th July to 1st August 2027.

We’re still counting up the pennies from the weekend, and we’ll be announcing the total amount raised for Staithes and Runswick RNLI lifeboat very soon.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported Lifeboat Weekend 2026. We couldn’t do it without the incredible support of our volunteers, local businesses, visitors and the wider community.

For now, get the dates in your diary. We’ll see you again in 2027.

As Lifeboat Weekend 2026 comes to a close, we'd like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make it such a special weekend.

To those who attended, donated, bought raffle tickets, entered events, volunteered their time, sponsored activities, provided entertainment, or simply came along to show their support — thank you.

The generosity of our community and visitors helps ensure that Staithes and Runswick RNLI can continue saving lives at sea. We'll let everyone know how much was raised as soon as the final figures have been checked.

We'd also like to thank all those who worked behind the scenes to organise another successful Lifeboat Weekend, and our volunteer crew who remain on call throughout it all.

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to welcoming you back next year.

As Lifeboat Weekend 2026 draws to a close, two special events remain.

Join us this afternoon for our traditional Services of Thanksgiving, giving us an opportunity to reflect on the RNLI's lifesaving mission and the incredible support of our communities.

2:30pm – East Cleveland Brass, Runswick Bay
3pm – Service of Thanksgiving, Runswick Bay

5pm – East Cleveland Brass, Staithes Lifeboat Station
5:30pm – Service of Thanksgiving, Staithes Lifeboat Station

The battle is almost upon us...
At 11am, hundreds of brave yellow competitors will take to Staithes Beck for the Great Duck Race.
Months of training have all led to this moment!
Will your duck surge ahead, or will it be left paddling in the pack? There's still time to pick a duck and enter the race before they get underway.
Good luck to all competitors, it's going to be a hotly contested one!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in Staithes yesterday and supported Lifeboat Weekend 2026.

From the stalls and BBQ to the lifeboat exercise, raft race, fancy dress parade, live music and fireworks, it was fantastic to see so many people enjoying the day and supporting the RNLI through their generous donations.

Now we look ahead to the final day of Lifeboat Weekend 2026. We hope to see you at today's events!
