🌟 Introducing Steen Yde – our new Chair Designate! 🌟

We’re delighted to welcome Steen Yde, who joined the Home-Start Spelthorne Board of Trustees in September and has taken on the role of Chair Designate.

Steen brings a wealth of experience in strategic leadership, transformation and executive advisory, having worked across the NGO, health and private sectors. He has previously held senior roles with KPMG and Plan International, leading major strategy and change programmes around the world.

Today, Steen works with organisations across health, social care and social housing, helping them to make a positive impact.

We’re really pleased to have Steen on board and look forward to working with him as he prepares to take on the role of Chair. Welcome, Steen! 👋💙

Fancy a fun night out while helping a great local charity? 💙

Join us for the **Home-Start Spelthorne Charity Quiz Night** at **Halliford School, Shepperton** on:

📅 **Friday 13th November 2026**
🕖 **7.00pm for a 7.15pm start**
💷 **£10 per person**
👥 **Teams of 6–8 people**

It’s a **light-hearted quiz**, so no need to be a serious quizzer! Just bring your friends, choose a team name, bring your own drinks and snacks, and enjoy a great evening together. 🍷🥨

🏆 **There will also be a raffle**, with all proceeds going to Home-Start Spelthorne. If you have any unwanted gifts or suitable raffle prizes, we’d be very grateful if you could bring them along for future raffles.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our founding trustee and long-time Treasurer, Anne Damerell, on the 22nd of September. 💙

Anne was a guiding light for Home-Start Spelthorne from our very beginning in 1995. She served as our dedicated Treasurer for 22 years (2003–2025), bringing the brilliant mind of an academic mathematician to our charity.

Anne worked incredibly hard for the voluntary sector, supporting various charities and sitting on NHS committees. We were so proud to see her lifelong dedication recognised with a Spelthorne Civic Award Letter of Commendation in 2024. And a Long Service Award at the Runnymede & Spelthorne Volunteer Awards in 2025.

We will miss her wisdom, her commitment, and her friendship. Please join us in sending our deepest condolences to Anne’s family and loved ones.

**VOLUNTEERS NEEDED**

If you are a parent, a carer, or maybe a grandparent, you know just how tough family life can be at times. And we know it too. Our volunteers, who have parenting experience, help families with all sorts of problems, from the everyday to the overwhelming.

Problems such as:
Loneliness and isolation
Relationship difficulties
Multiple children under 5
Ill health, disability or special needs
Lone parenting
Coping with bereavement
Mental health
