“Staffordshire UNISON is disturbed and disappointed by the decision of Reform, the ruling political party of the County Council to remove LGBT+ materials from public prominence in Libraries across Staffordshire. We believe that there is no justification for this decision whatsoever. The information forced from view needs to be easily available to the public because there is a significant demand for it.

This irresponsible decision was made by Reform without any consultation with the public, health trusts, charities, and UNISON.

Staffordshire UNISON has written to the Chief Executive of Staffordshire County Council to request an explanation as to the legal basis for such a denial of information to the public and awaits a response.

UNISON stands in solidarity with all people being oppressed and refuses to accept that any restriction in access to educational and health promoting positive information is ever justifiable.”
