SFWI Bowls Singles competition

It was another hot day for the bowls singles competition. Unfortunately we were low on numbers and would encourage more to take part. However, 6 ladies took to the green. Everyone played in two round robin groups. Each match was 12 ends, and home players were handicapped. The winners of each group played the final, a full match to 21. The results in the round robins were close, but the finalists were Jean Parker, Aston by Stone WI and Helen Cleaver, Woodland WI. Helen was the eventual winner.
Of course the day was not complete without a social time for cakes and tea.
Thanks again to all competitors for playing and for the members of Marchington bowls club for marking, measuring and supplying plenty of fluids to keep the players hydrated. It was much appreciated.

This was the last SFWI bowls event of the year but we are looking forward to having more next year with perhaps a different mix. The events are all friendly and encouraging so let the office know if you would be interested next year and watch out for the event flyers .

Many thanks
Helen Cleaver.
