🚒 A visit to Stafford Fire Station! 🚒

Last week, Stafford & Rugeley Sea Cadets were fortunate to visit Stafford Fire Station for a fantastic behind-the-scenes experience!

A huge thank you to all the staff and volunteers who took the time to show us around, demonstrate the equipment and let our cadets get hands-on and have a go themselves!

It was a brilliant opportunity to learn more about the important work our local firefighters do, and as you’ll see from the photos, everyone had a fantastic time!

Thank you again for making us feel so welcome and giving our cadets such a memorable experience. Staffordshire Fire and Rescue

📣 SKILLS FOR LIFE — WHAT COULD YOU ACHIEVE? ⚓

Think Sea Cadets is just about boats and uniforms? Think again! 👀

At Stafford & Rugeley Sea Cadets, our young people get the chance to learn skills that go far beyond the classroom — skills they can use for life!

🧭 Navigation — finding their way
⚓ Seamanship — learning the ropes
🚑 First Aid — being ready to help
🏕️ Outdoor Adventures — trying something new
🤝 Teamwork — achieving more together
🎯 Leadership — stepping up and taking the lead
💬 Communication — finding their voice

But the biggest achievement? Watching our cadets grow in confidence, challenge themselves and discover what they’re capable of. 💪

👇 OVER TO YOU!

If you could learn ONE of these skills, which would you choose?

🧭 Navigation
⚓ Seamanship
🚑 First Aid
🏕️ Outdoor Adventures
🎯 Leadership

💬 Comment with your choice below! We’d love to know what interests you most.

⚓ New skills. New challenges. Confidence for life. That’s Sea Cadets!

🚑 Thursday 8 October — Cadets Save Lives ⚓

First aid is one of those skills we hope we never need — but would you know what to do if someone suddenly needed your help? 🤔

Our cadets get the opportunity to learn practical first aid skills and how to respond in an emergency — developing confidence and skills that could genuinely make a difference.

👇 Let’s see how our followers would do!

QUICK QUESTION:
You’re out and about when someone suddenly collapses. What’s the FIRST thing you would do?

1️⃣Check if they are responsive
2️⃣Give them some water
3️⃣Move them somewhere else
4️⃣Run and find someone else to help

💬 Drop your answer in the comments — 1, 2, 3 or 4!!

And if you know the answer already… maybe it’s time to put your first aid skills to the test! 🚑👏

❤️ Wednesday 7 October — Volunteer Celebration

❤️ Today we’re celebrating our volunteers!

Sea Cadets simply wouldn’t happen without the amazing people who give their time, skills and enthusiasm to support our young people.

As our unit continues to grow, so does our waiting list of young people wanting to join us. We’re therefore looking for more volunteers to help us provide opportunities for the next generation of cadets.

⚓ Were you previously a Sea Cadet? Why not come back and give something back to the organisation that helped you?

Or perhaps you’ve never been involved with Sea Cadets before but would like to get involved, learn something new and support young people in your local community.

There are lots of different ways you can help, and you don’t need to have a military or maritime background.

📧 If you’d like to find out more, please get in touch at [email protected].

A huge thank you to all of our current volunteers for everything you do for Stafford & Rugeley Sea Cadets. ❤️⚓

🌟 Tuesday 6 October — Cadets in the Community

🌳 Cadets in the Community 🌳

Being a Sea Cadet isn’t just about what happens inside the unit.

Our cadets have opportunities to get involved in their local community, represent the unit at events and support activities that make a difference.

We’re incredibly proud of the way our cadets step forward, get involved and represent Stafford & Rugeley Sea Cadets.

⚓ Learning. Serving. Achieving.

⚓ I WAS A CADET… NOW I AM…

With National Cadets Week starting today, we want to hear from the people who were once part of Stafford & Rugeley Sea Cadets! 💙

Being a cadet is about so much more than uniforms and parade nights. It’s about the skills you pick up, the challenges you overcome, the friendships you make and the confidence you build along the way.

So, former cadets, we want to know…

👉 “I was a cadet, now I am…”

Maybe you’re a parent, teacher, business owner, nurse, engineer, member of the Armed Forces, volunteer, professional, or simply someone who still carries the lessons you learned as a cadet with you today.

Whatever you’re doing now, we’d love to hear your story!

📸 Tell us in the comments:
⚓ When were you a cadet?
⚓ What are you doing now?
⚓ And most importantly… what did Sea Cadets give you that you still use today?
⚓️Any old photos?

Your story could inspire a young person who is currently standing on parade wondering where their own journey might take them. 💙

I was a cadet… now I am…

Let’s show the next generation just how far being a Sea Cadet can take you! ⚓💙

Cadets complete Basic Catering! ✅😎 Congratulations to our 4 cadets who last weekend went up to Crewe unit for the District course. They made bread, sausage rolls, shepherds pie, apple crumble and scones or scons - depending on how you pronounce them 😆

🏗️ Can You Help Stafford & Rugeley Sea Cadets?

We're looking for support from a local architect or architectural practice to help us develop plans for future improvements to our Sea Cadet unit.

As a youth charity, we provide opportunities for young people to learn new skills, gain confidence, make friends and take part in activities they may not otherwise have access to. To continue supporting local young people, we want to improve our facilities but need professional assistance with drawings and plans.

If you're an architect, architectural technician, surveyor, or know someone who may be able to help, we'd love to hear from you.

Any support, whether through donated time, advice or discounted services, would make a huge difference to our charity and the young people we serve.

📧 Please send us a message or email [email protected]

Thank you for supporting local young people. ⚓
