Dry farms should increase grass allowance and reduce purchased feed inputs. Heavier land types are still struggling with grazing conditions and now also grass surplus, using silage to remove surplus is the quickest and best option to get the grazing platform back on target. ๐ŸŽฏ๐Ÿ‘

Kindly hosted by the Lewis Family, Haven Farm is a 400-acre mixed farming enterprise combining generations of farming heritage with a progressive regenerative approach. The farm produces cider apples, hops and arable crops, and is home to Haven Herefords, the world's oldest family-run herd of pedigree Hereford cattle.

During the walk, you'll hear how the farm is improving pasture resilience and livestock performance through the use of diverse herbal leys, while also exploring opportunities to diversify the business.

BGS Regional Rep & Corporate Member, Nigel Storer, recently completed a coast to coast walk in Scotland in aid of Motor Neurone Disease Association, raising an incredible ยฃ1350!. Nigel walked a total of 208.47 miles, (498,738 steps), 9,244m of total elevation gain (395m more than the height of Everest!) The walk took a total of 12 days to complete (7th May โ€“ 19th May). Congratulations to Nigel on this amazing achievement!
