Stafford College has been named one of just four Advanced Manufacturing Technical Excellence Colleges in England.

Becoming a Technical Excellence College means millions of pounds of Government investment into a purpose-built facility, training young people and career changers for the skilled jobs of the future and giving our businesses a strong local pipeline of highly trained talent.

And this is important. A stronger engineering and manufacturing skills pipeline will not only mean our young people can get good jobs here – building their futures in the town they grew up – but it will also help businesses confidently invest in growth here

MIGHT BE WORTH LOCAL BUSINESSES LINKING WITH... FOR FUTURE TALENT.

🏗️ Town Centre Update: Gaolgate Street (10–12)

Hi everyone 👋 A heads‑up for anyone who shops, works, or walks through Stafford town centre regularly…

A demolition application has been submitted for 10–12 Gaolgate Street (right in the town centre). This doesn’t mean demolition is happening tomorrow. It means the proposal has entered the planning process, where it can be reviewed and commented on.

📍 What we know

•The application is specifically for demolition at 10–12 Gaolgate Street
•It’s a formal planning step, which will be assessed before any decision is made

🤔 Why this matters
Changes on a central street like Gaolgate can affect:

•the look and feel of the town centre
•local footfall and nearby businesses
•heritage/character vs. redevelopment opportunities
•what comes next for the site (depending on future proposals)

🗣️ Over to you, Stafford!

We’re curious what residents think: ✅ Is this the right move for that part of town?

🏛️ Should we be protecting more of Stafford’s existing buildings?

🏙️ Or do we need a refresh and new investment in the centre?

If you’ve got memories of those buildings or thoughts on what you’d like to see in that spot, pop them in the comments 👇

(Please keep it respectful — lots of strong opinions on town centre changes, and all viewpoints are welcome!)

As a residential space right next to the town centre, we are deeply impacted by what goes on there. Plus we have seen the changes through the years, and are dismayed at the heart being taken out of the town centre.

We now have an MP who lives in Stafford. Regardless of your political persuasion. Now is your chance to say what you think and be heard.

Have your say on the future of the town centre . Complete this questionnaire

Dear resident, Re: Have your say on the future of Stafford town centre Improving our town centre is one of the things people raise with me most - at coffee mornings, on the doorstep and in my inbox. Since being elected, I have made it my mission to help renew Stafford’s town centre. I am pushing h...

❤️We love repurposing and recycling. So delighted that this charity is opening today, not far from the Terrace.

About Love It Again (Staffs)
It is a Stafford based charity focused on saving usable items from landfill and giving them a new purpose in the community. Through shop sales, pop-up events and donated goods, the charity raises income to support its running costs while also helping local people in practical ways.

A big part of its work is helping turn accommodation into a home. The charity works with agencies and local people to provide household items for individuals, couples and families moving into new accommodation. This can include people rebuilding their lives after hardship, care leavers, people fleeing domestic violence, and those starting again after difficult circumstances. Alongside household items, the charity also provides helpful extras such as food starter packs, cleaning products, toiletries, bedding, books, toys and other essentials.

Love It Again also supports schools, nurseries and community groups by collecting and redistributing items that would otherwise go to waste. This has included things like bikes, trikes, ride-on toys, outdoor play equipment and musical instruments. It also helps other small charities by supplying donated items for their own pop-up sales, giving them an added fundraising boost.

The charity also runs extra community support projects, including Easter egg collections for local families and care leavers, help with birthday presents for children where possible, and a borrow a birthday box scheme with decorations families can use free of charge and return after use.

By combining reuse, practical support and local community action, Love It Again gives unwanted items a second life while helping people across Staffordshire feel more supported in times of need.

👏👏👏Well done to Stafford Borough Police for its operation in Stafford Town Centre on Friday, to ensure the town centre remains safe for pedestrians.

The Stafford Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted a targeted operation on Friday 27th February, after a series of complaints about illegal cycling and driving in the town centre.

As a result of the crackdown. There were:
- 10 fines for cyclists breaching the Public Spaces Protection Order.
- 8 notices for drivers parking or driving in pedestrianised zones.

If you are from Staffordshire, you will know we have got our own special way with words… and today’s star of the show is “cuffy” 🧀😄

Not a new brand of coffee. Not a comfy jumper. Nope. Cuffy is that brilliant local word for when someone’s in a bit of a mood, feeling awkward, grumpy, or just plain hard work. You know… when they’re “being a right cuffy one”. 😤➡️😆

Whether it’s the weather 🌧️, the traffic 🚗💨, or just life doing its thing, we’ve all had our cuffy days. And let’s be honest… we have all caused a few too! 🙈

So here’s to Staffordshire slang. Colourful, quirky, and always spot‑on. 💛

Got a favourite local word? Drop it in the comments!👇

Big news for Stafford! 🌳✨ Rowley Park is getting a *multi‑million‑pound glow‑up* and the first phase kicks off later this month! 🚀

Think
**new play area
**outdoor gym kit
**fresh pathways
**woodland planting,
and plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the chaos… I mean, the *lovely views*. 😄🌿

Thanks to £1.2 million from local development funds (cheers, builders 👷‍♂️👏), the council has been busy gathering ideas from residents, schools, and disability groups to make sure the park is more inclusive and fun for everyone. Toddler‑friendly features topped the wish list. Tiny humans really know what they want. 👶💪

And this is just Phase One! Future plans *could* include:
• wheeled sports area 🛹
• community sports hub 🏟️
• new changing rooms + toilets 🚻
• tennis courts 🎾
• a community garden 🌼
• walking routes + picnic spots 🥪
• car park improvements 🚗

Plus, this summer brings a brand‑new artificial pitch and better floodlighting. ⚽💡

As councillor Gillian Pardesi put it, it’s shaping up to be a place our community can be proud of. A proper hub for families, fitness and fresh air. ❤️

Exciting times ahead, Stafford! 🌟
