2026 Extraordinary General Meeting

As per the recent announcement that accompanied the Yearbook:

The 2026 Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) will be held on Saturday 17th October 2026 at Wilnecote Parish Hall, Watling Street, Tamworth. B77 5AD.
The meeting will start at 11 am prompt.

Should you wish to put a proposal to the meeting, please register your intent by email to Roger Brownbridge, strictly no later that 29th September, along with a titled proposal summary of up to 300 words.

Any paid up (for 2026) member, and/or representative of an Affiliated Society wishing to attend must register with Geoff Allen, strictly no later than 29th September.

Your support of this meeting is keenly sought. Minutes, and any subsequent developments will appear in the 2026 Panorama.

The National Chrysanthemum Society’s full colour Year Book is nearly ready for print!
Our full colour annual publication is now nearing completion and will soon be heading to print. With approximately 140 pages of growing advice and inspiration, Society news, stunning photography and articles for chrysanthemum enthusiasts of all levels, this annual publication is one of the key benefits of NCS membership.

Copies will be posted to paid-up members in early July.

If you’re passionate about chrysanthemums and would like to receive your copy, now is the perfect time to join the Society or renew your membership.

When the plants have filled the 9cm pots, they will be ready to be moved on into larger pots. In early April the plants can be potted on into 13 cm pots (using the same compost as before) before moving them into the cold frame. Keep a close eye on the weather forecast and provide some form of frost protection if needed e.g. horticultural fleece. Around the beginning of May, start ventilating gradually to harden the plants off for planting out or potting on into final pots from mid May onwards or after the last frost.

The National Chrysanthemum Society 2026 AGM will be held on Saturday 21st March 2026, at the Wilnecote Parish Hall, Watling Street, Tamworth, B77 5AD.

The AGM will begin at 11:00 am and only members paid up for 2026 will be admitted. Doors open at 10:00 am with tea and coffee available on arrival.

Please help to support our Plant Fair, by donating young plants, this can help new members get off to a great start, and help raise funds for the Society. There will be some Chrysanthemum memorabilia made available for donation.

After the meeting and presentations, our guest speaker, Dr Andy Wickham will deliver his lecture on 'A few Earlies for the house and show bench'.

We look forward to seeing as many of our members there.

There’s a lovely beginner‑friendly session happening at RHS Garden Bridgewater on 1 March at 11am — and it’s free with garden entry.

You’ll hear from Jim Vickerman, a multi‑time National Champion, who’ll talk about:

✨ What makes chrysanthemums so special
✨ The huge range of colours and types they come in
✨ How he grows his own
✨ Easy tips to help you get started

🌿 It’s a relaxed, welcoming session — perfect if you’re new to gardening, want to learn something fun, or just love beautiful plants. And you can make a day of it exploring the gardens too.

We’re really happy to help spread the word. It’s a great little intro to growing, and everyone’s welcome
