This month’s Staffs Web Meetup is fast approaching.

This will be the last meetup to be held at the Codeweavers office and the last meetup that Natasha will steering the ship.

There will be a couple of exciting announcements being made on the night which we will communicate via email and social media later in the week. So… be there to get the latest on what the future holds for Staffs Web Meetup.

This month on Thursday 26th March 2026, we will be joined by seasoned guest speaker Bob Oates, who will talking about challenges with AI security and how to tame them.

Doors open at 6pm with the talk stating at 7pm.

Well will be hosting our open discussion session as usual so have a think about what problems, topics and questions you wish to put to the group.

We are also calling for speakers to come forward with talk ideas for upcoming months. These talks can be a short lightning talk, show and tell or full blown conference extravaganza, the floor is yours.

We will also be having a small Easter giveaway to mark the end of Natasha and Phil’s time running the meetup.

We're excited to invite you to join us for Staffs Web Meetup Christmas Special!

Join us for an evening of great talks, discuss the latest and hottest topics and socialising/networking.

🎤 Featured Talk: "Algorithms for autonomous machines" by Sam Wane

Machines that work in the real world need to adapt to the ever changing and unpredictable environment.

They sense these changes through sensors and make changes using motors. This is a continuous feedback loop of sense-think-act, continuous small changes are what enables machines to operate in the real world.

For example, an autonomous car driving on a straight road will need to continuously adjust the steering wheel to keep it on a true course.

This talk, peppered with demonstrations, will explore how these feedback loops operate and will demonstrate some algorithms to enable machines to work in the real world: such as planning a route to a location, how a drone autopilot allows it to maintain a fixed height and location regardless of wind patterns, and how mobile robots find their way around.
