Five days into 2026 and we’re already making the most of the outdoors 💪🏔️

Winter climbing in Wales, trad at Barmouth Slabs & Wilton, skiing in Scotland, bouldering in Northumberland, mountain biking on Blacka Moor, hiking Aran Fawddwy, walks around Bryn Hafod — and a perfect hut shot to welcome 2026.

A few snaps from Kilnworx last night! Dark evenings just mean more time for cosy fires, great routes, good company, and endless cups of tea. Winter’s got nothing on us 😉

Nine members met last weekend for the Autumn Social at Bryn Hafod. Alongside a free-to-members Navigation Skills Workshop led by Nick Manasseh, there was plenty of walking in the surrounding hills.

On Sunday, members went their separate ways — some stayed local for more walking, one took to the water for some SUPing on Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake), and three enjoyed a day of single-pitch cragging in the autumn sunshine at the beautifully positioned Barmouth Slabs.

A special thanks to Paul and Helen Hyland for the delicious communal meal on Saturday night — now a much-loved tradition at these socials!

❄️ Windgather Improvers Meet – 27th August

A chilly September day didn’t stop 12 mostly new members from heading to Windgather for our Improvers Meet! As one climber wisely said, “There’s no such thing as cold weather, just inappropriate clothing” – down jackets were definitely the order of the day. 🧥

Big congratulations to three members who completed their first-ever lead climbs, and a warm welcome back to our “born again” climbers reconnecting with their passion after time away.

A fantastic day was had by all, filled with climbing, camaraderie, and plenty of laughs! 🧗‍♂️💪

As the nights get shorter, here’s another glimpse of what our club members have been up to on a Tuesday night. This week, we had 10 members join us, and after climbing we were treated to a beautiful sunset, which we rounded off with a beer at the pub afterwards.

Over the weekend, 7 members of the club travelled to North Wales. Overall, the members completed a total of 2,259 meters of vertical climbing, but more than that, they had a fantastic time in the mountains!

Summary: The hills tested us, the laughs kept us going, and the company made it all the better.

Pembrokeshire Trip Report 🧗‍♀️🥾☀️

Last week, 9 of our club members headed down to stunning Pembrokeshire for 5 sun-soaked days of climbing, hiking, and soaking in one of the UK’s top adventure destinations.

Crags & Venues Visited:
📍Porthclais
📍Craig Caerfai
📍Porth y Ffynnon
📍Organ Pipes
📍Saddle Head
📍Bosherston Head
📍Wales Coast Path

In total, 42 routes were climbed (ranging from Diff to HVS 5a), and 25+ km of coastal hiking was clocked. And yes — countless cups of tea were enjoyed along the way.

Safe to say Pembrokeshire delivered the goods! 🌊🧗‍♂️🍵
