Items needed please!

For this year’s summer holiday club at St Mary's Eaton Socon Church we need a few things which I’m hoping our local community will be able to help source / collect (you've got a few more weeks to collect)

- Empty pringles tubes WITH lids - these need to be clean and dry but can be either the big tubes or the small ones

- Spare bubble wands (the plastic bit you blow bubbles through) - with or without the pots and bubble mix

- Anything related to boats/water/ocean/fishing which could be used as a prop or set design for holiday club. For example, but not limited to, nets (big or small), life jackets, oars, boat flags etc. Preferably something you don’t mind children touching/interacting with but happy to chat through options if you’ve got something really cool! Donations preferred (just for practicality reasons) but anything lent will be taken good care of and returned/available to pick up post holiday club.

Happy to come and collect anything (preferably not a single pringle tube or a single bubble wand 😆) or items can be dropped down at church (please let me know before you do this so we can make sure someone is in the office).

The last few years this community has been amazing and we've had some brilliant things, looking forward to the same again this year!

Many thanks 😊

The thanksgiving service for Tim's life and ministry will take place at 12 noon on Monday 2nd February at St Mary's Church Eaton Socon. This will be preceded by a private committal.

All are welcome to attend the thanksgiving service. Refreshments will be served after the service in the church.

Please be aware that due to the high numbers of people expected to attend, carparking will be at a premium. If possible, please avoid using the usual car parks.

Floral tributes will be from family members only. Regarding dress code, we ask people to be smartly and respectfully dressed but black is not required. We would like donations in memory of Tim to be made to St Mary's Church Eaton Socon.

Thank you

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our Vicar Tim Robb. Tim passed away peacefully at home at 14:50 on Wednesday 7th January with his wife Julie and daughter Sarah at his side.

Timothy Simon Robb had been vicar of St Mary's since 2007 and during that eighteen and a half years he reached out to the local community with his friendly and engaging manner. Tim was both faithful and visionary in his ministry, he has encouraged and empowered church members in their ministries and consequently built up a multi-talented team of people serving God in this church. This is Tim's legacy to this church. He will be sadly missed.

We will have much to say about Tim's life and ministry in this church, but for now please continue to give your prayers, love and practical support to Julie and Sarah. Please also remember Tim's family in New Zealand and Canada in your prayers as well as Julie's UK family.

For any further enquiries please email the church office on [email protected]

HIVE RESTARTS AGAIN ON SUNDAY 18th JANUARY

What is HIVE?

Hive is a group for children of any ages who have additional needs or disabilities (diagnosed or not) and their siblings and grown ups. We meet monthly on a Sunday afternoon in the church hall for friendship, support and lots of fun. We have a host of activities set up for the children to engage with - these include messy activities, blackout tent, musical instruments, light up toys, construction toys, crafts, games and puzzles. The setup is designed around the children who we have booked in on any given month. We have a refreshment time where we serve hot drinks, squash, something sweet and some fruit. Towards the end we have a mini-tidy up and then switch off all our main lights and just have our sensory light projectors on.

Upcoming dates

We meet at 2pm till 3.30pm on the following Sundays:

18th January
15th February
22nd March
26th April
17th May
21st June

The cost is £4 per family (funding available for those unable to meet this cost).
