Club members were pleased to support 'The Big Listen' today on the Market Square together with our Mother Club in a shared marquee. We were able to speak to many people during the day and tell them about our fund raising efforts over the years, over £500,000 raised by our club alone since 1985, the majority of which is donated to local charities and good causes.

President Malcolm and members and partners recently visited the HQ of the East Anglian Air Ambulance at Cambridge Airport. The group were able to meet the aircrew, paramedics and Doctors who explained what was involved in a typical day and the area they covered with the helicopter and fast response vehicles. Malcolm was delighted to present a cheque for £4000 being part of the Club's fund raising activities during his year as President which ends on 30th June. It proved to be a very enjoyable and educational day out followed by a nice lunch at a local hostelry.

Rotary Sensory Walk and Garden: celebrating a new space for learning and wellbeing in St Neots.

Samuel Pepys School in St Neots is delighted to announce the completion of its new Rotary Sensory Walk and Garden, a vibrant and inclusive space designed to enrich the lives of pupils and the local community.

The project began as a result of discussions between the Rotary Club of St Neots St Marys during a meeting with the Head of Samuel Pepys School in late 2023.

The project began on 5 October 2024 and reached completion on 5 April 2026, marking a significant milestone in the school’s commitment to fostering a supportive environment for all children. The school submitted an expression of interest for funding to the National Highways A428 Black Cat to Gibbet Social Value Fund on 11 June 2026, securing a grant of £30,000. Indre Parker from National Highways served as the main contact throughout the grant application process, ensuring smooth communication and support.

The Mayor of St Neots Cllr Richard Slade formally opened the garden with one of the pupils.

Project lead, Rtn Mike Andrews assisted by Rtn Larry Fitch

Having recently donated funds to the The Wildlife Trust to help with the education of young people, 20 Club members recently visited Paxton Pits to discover more about the work at the Education Centre which helps schools, families, young people and nature journaling participants engage with and discover more about how they can take action for wildlife.
Debbie McKenzie led the group in some pond dipping to show the myriad of life that exists in the ponds at the Education Centre and proved to be a fountain of knowledge on the various species that were spotted.

The centre is run by The Wildlife Trust for Beds, Cambs and Northants whilst the site is managed by Huntingdonshire District Council.

A total of 41 Club members and guests attended the Vino Tapas and Wine Bar on Tuesday evening where we were treated to an amazing array of Tapas served very efficiently by Ella and Alex and their team. We were made to feel extremely welcome and the ambience in the upstairs dining room was excellent and a great time was had by all. We all welcome the arrival of this new restaurant in the town centre and wish them well in their new business venture.

The Club held another very successful Sportsmans Lunch on Friday at St Neots Golf Club whose bar and catering staff provided great service. The audience of around 80 members and guests were richly entertained by ex BBC broadcaster John Inverdale who had stepped in at the 11th hour as replacement for the advertised speaker Andrew Murray who was indisposed. John told many anecdotes covering a range of different sports that he had been involved with over his 30 year career.
Once again the club is very grateful to Kevin Hull and Premier Plus Ltd for his continued sponsorship and also to Jack and Ross Pirie of Pirie Homes, sponsoring the event for the first time, as well as the generous support given to the raffle by those attending and the local businesses who donated prizes.
The event looks to have raised in the region of £6000 for the Club's Charity account which will be used to support local charities and good causes.

We are pleased to say that our next Sportsman's Charity Lunch being held on Friday 6th March is now SOLD OUT.
We are very grateful for the continuing sponsorship of Premier Plus and our new sponsor Pirie Homes without whom we would not be able to obtain such well known sporting personalities

Following a recent presentation at a club meeting by Pauline Leighton and Melissa Giggs from Riding for the Disabled it was decided to donate the sum of £500 to facilitate the purchase of equipment for the children.

Pauline wrote to the club as follows

"Your donation will be used to purchase a number of new riding helmets and safety equipment so that we are able to meet the differing needs of our riders. Also as the winter is now upon us we will need to ensure we have a supply of warm clothing for the children such as gloves, scarves and rainwear.
With our gratitude and much appreciation for helping us to continue supporting the children of Samuel Pepys School".

The club is always pleased to be able to support local charities doing such good work in the community.
