A friendly, happy village in West Wales, on the banks of the Teifi River estuary.

Llandudoch/St Dogmaels

A Beautiful village in North Pembrokeshire, much loved by those who live there or come to visit. The River Teifi flows through it down to Poppit Sands one of the best beaches in the area. There is an Abbey that was founded in about 1115 for Tironian monks, with remains dating from the twelfth to sixteenth centuries. On-site is a visitor center in the adjoining Coach House,

with exhibitions, a cafe, and shop. Next to the Abbey is a working Mill complete with a mill pond, bread and flour can be bought there and also at the local market. The village also has a Post Office, a local shop, and a fish and chip shop with a seating area. St Thomas’ is an Anglican Grade II listed church built in approx in 1850, it is listed for special historical and architectural interest as an early example in West Wales of the gothic revival, employing historically correct detail. It is a very active village with many groups of varied interests who all join together at village events, the groups include, the WI, Foot Path Association, and Allotment Association plus lots more various interest groups. There are several very good B & B's and three Inns, one offering accommodation, and another that is community-owned, all serve food. An art gallery, a pottery and an award winning produce market is held weekly on a Tuesday morning throughout the year, and is well worth a visit, Stalls include locally caught crab, fish and lobsters, meats, vegetables, cakes, cheese, preserves, bread and flour, eggs, flowers and plants along with other non-food stalls. The village has an interesting seafaring history and there are many tales to tell including the legend of Peregrine a fisherman (dated around 1789) whose life was saved by a mermaid. A statue of the mermaid can be found near The Moorings on the banks of the Teifi River. Poppit Sands Blue Flag beach is one of the most beautiful in the area, there is a lifeboat station at the head of the beach and a small Cafe/shop adjoining the car park (charges apply) you can also hire a beach wheelchair for adults or children for a small charge.

There are Adders nesting in the dunes at Poppit and signs to make you aware.
You may never see them as they hide away, just be respectful and they won't bother you.
This is good advice if you are dog walking in the dunes.
